If you haven't been, you should check out Angkor Wat in Cambodia. It is an amazing experience and awesome historical sites there that I imagine for most people who visit, is way more memorable than the pyramids in Egypt or Mayan and Inca ruins in Central/South America.

It is relatively easy to get there now via land route from Thailand (they finally paved a road the whole way), and there is an airport in the nearby town (Siem Reap). I took the route through the Mekong Delta river in Vietnam to the new border and then to the capital and then river boat to Sien Reap, which is a great way to see the country.

1) Laos/Southern China/Northern Vietnam

2) Uruguay/Bolivia/Paraguay/Argentina

3) Canoe the Nahanni River in Canadian Artic or Tashenatshi that flows into Alaska.

4) Sailing in the South Pacific.

5) Japan/Korea

Japan = Very different culture, and I find the weird little fellows most intresting. My #1 place to go.

New zealand = Haven't been there, and it's as far away on this planet I can get from home. My mom lived there for a few years on a lamb farm when she was younger and talked about it. I wanna see.

Australia = Must...visit...all..continents

Las Vegas = I wanna see the mecca of capitalist pigs.

Some small caribbean island for relaxing. I've been to Cayman and st.Kitts, but I want to go again.

I've always wanted to visit Greece and the Greek Islands.
Italy has always held an appeal for me as well, especially Venice and Rome.
Australia & New Zealand -- just always wanted to go there.
Netherlands -- I know people there, would love to visit.
S. Africa -- after hearing stories from my dad about his days during WW II in the merchant navy and his time spent in Capetown I'd have to say this region holds much appeal for me as well.

You would definitely be one fucker I'd love to go visit and take a road trip through Europe with.

But if that ever happened, EU would never be the same.

DateDoc 03-18-2005 09:38 AM

If you go to Greece don't forget the islands of Corfu and Crete. They are amazing. I don't think anyone said Switzerland and it is well worth a visit. So are Fiji, Tenerife and the south of Portugal. :2 cents:

They've fucking ruined Beirut from what I hear. Plus all the shit thats going on now, I doubt I'd be able to get back.

If you go anywhere in the world, you've got to see Cape Town. I just got back from my holiday there two weeks ago. The country is so beautiful and Cape Town will keep you entertained for weeks on end. Theres so much to do and see and relax with.

Egypt[4TH-Reactor] 03-18-2005 09:52 AM

With regard to the Middle East, back in the early 90's I heard about something called "The holy-land tour", which took you all through the region from the Red to the Dead, the pyramids, Sphynx, several historic cities etc, 3 weeks in total..... but because of the locals and their utter inability to get along peacefully for any length of time, who the hell would ever want to take such a tour? Those people, in my opinion, have ruined that region for the rest of the world, and there are many many people who would love to visit there but stay away because of the fighting and the bombings and the killings and the bullshit.

Capetown -- Absolutely. I recently saw a picture taken from.. what's it called?... "Tabletop mountain"?... not sure, but a guy was sitting on the edge of a high cliff which literally overlooked the city from the height of the clouds. It was an incredible shot.

WebTitan 03-18-2005 10:04 AM

Hawaii during the winter big wave months. Stay for a few months. I just have to see this big big big wave surfing at Waimea in person.

Eqypt. I'm with Colin on the historical exploration trip. Just want to avoid guys in bandanas and automatic weapons which there is too much of in the middle east for my taste right now.

Amsterdam. Just so I can drop a bag of pot on the ground in front of a cop, pick it up and then ask him directions to the whore houses.

Alaska. Im thinking of taking an extended cruise/land tour when my kids get old enough to take it in and not be bored. They are 2 and 4 right now so I have a wait.

Kenya. I would love to take an authentic African Safari before mankind fucks it all up and your only choice is a virtual reality machine or a mocked up zoo. Im not the biggest fan of sweating in the sun so maybe I will bump this choice down and move up my 6-10 which would be

6. Hong kong/China (shopping, sites and history)
7. New Zealand (make like Frodo and go hiking to Mt Doom)
8. Italy (food/wine, history and ambience)
9. Japan (history/track some of my ancestry and visit Disney Sea in Tokyo)
10. Fiji

sweetME 03-18-2005 03:20 PM

Yup. Table Mountain. Raises 3000ft out from in the middle out the city. They've got a cable way that goes from the base to the top. Spectacular views all the way to Cape Point from the top. Heres a pic I took of it from the Ferry going out to Robben Island (the prison where Mandela was held).
