This is a pretty creative way to spam your products....however,

1)I wasn't aware that Visa made any such threat.

2) If they tried to pull the plug on recurring for us but left it in tact for any other merchant(s) we would have serious grounds to file suit, there would be an injunction and business would continue as usual until the lawsuit went through the court system (2 years at least)

Actually I've been hearing this buzz since last year w/ little real facts. Not to say that there isn't some truth to it, but one of these years, some webmaster, or adult media company will start a bank, or someway to do business, and BAM,... another solution.

Visa has talked about doing that many times. I think that in the long run, they will find that it is not in their best interest to do it.

We are no longer a new baby, with people seeing us for the first time. 95% or even more of the surfers going through the adult Net have been there before. An even higher percentage of the buyers have been here before.

so we are not living off a one time impulse buy, we live off repeat customers who think $1 a day for a good porn experience is good value. If they can only join for a month some will rebill at the end and others will move onto the next porn site. Which will lead to more buyers looking for a new site to join.

Porn consumers buy on a regular basis, they are not impules buys. Surfers as young as 14 are surfing the adult net for years before they make their first purchase. And the belief that someone joins up and the recur month after month because they forgot is stupid.

How many guys would do that on an impulse buy and then not charge back at the end? How many sites do you think he joins before he notices all these monthl charges for $30?

The end of recurring billing would not be the end of the business, but it might be the end of retards who think a sign up is a fluke and a rebill a mistake.
