(I already updated the firmware)

WarChild 03-17-2005 06:01 PM

I've had the exact same thing happen with 2 Linksys wireless routers, and had a third one die all together. Never again.

Illicit 03-17-2005 06:15 PM

did you ever find a wireless router that worked ? what sucks is I can use my neighbor's linksys with no problems, but the one in my house sucks :(

I have the same router. Worked without problems for almost a year now.

Tony Montana 03-17-2005 06:19 PM

Unplug your cordless phone?

mrthumbs 03-17-2005 06:20 PM

Get a USRobotics wireless router.. i have two up and running for 5 months now and 0 problems so far.. rocksolid.. only downside: 4 ports only (rj45) and no uplink so you can to hook up max 4 machines with wire or go wireless..

pornguy 03-17-2005 06:21 PM

I have one as well, and have had a few times where it would loose the connetion off and on. But all in all, it has been great. I have a second one for back up. BUt most of the others out there suck worse. And the other option is to buy one from cisco for like 2k.

No shit mos tpeole don't realize thing like cordless phone that also run at 2.4 Ghtz can interfere with routers. That's the negative of unregulated wavelengths.

Fred Quimby 03-17-2005 06:48 PM

Is it pluged in?

SetTheWorldonFire 03-17-2005 06:50 PM

I have the same problem.

Somtimes I can't even get online for hours. I get real pissed and plug in the dam cat 5.

Jon2 03-17-2005 06:52 PM

B40 03-17-2005 06:54 PM

Linksys does suck major ass, we used netgear and had a few problems, then we switch over to Belkin and its been working quite well, check it out.

i've always stuck with netgear

austinth 03-17-2005 09:21 PM

i have that same router, and it is rock solid

Bosco4y2k3 03-17-2005 09:22 PM

Sounds to me like you got a bad one. Just cause it's new doesen't mean it works!!!!
If the problem persists i'd return it and get another one.

Damian_Maxcash 03-17-2005 09:27 PM

Never had a problem with mine

Hard wire it and see if it still has problems... If not then it could be interferance, then you will have problems with all of them as as far as I know they all use the same 2.4 channel

It works fine hard wired. I'll bring it back to best buy and get another one

same here. i have one at home, one at the office ... work flawlessly :2 cents:

Bosco4y2k3 03-17-2005 09:44 PM

Just a suggestion,
make sure you firewall and name your connection so your neighbors cant use it. This is becoming more of a problem as wifi cards are becoming more popular and are great to tap into wireless routers. I currently have 3 wireless connections my laptop picks up. Only 1 bothered to firewall and name his connection. The other two are wide open for anyone to use.

Linksys and DLink suck ass

Cisco owns Linksys... it would be nice if they moved some of the quality of their high end routers towards their more mass market products :(

webcrawler 03-18-2005 06:29 AM

Using the same router, works fine here.

onlyreal 03-18-2005 06:51 AM

change channel

have u tried this?

Project-Shadow 03-18-2005 07:10 AM

I've had a D-Link for 2 years no problems

gecko 03-18-2005 07:33 AM

RawAlex 03-18-2005 08:57 AM

1 - change the channel
2 - if you have a cordless phone, relocate the wireless base to another location.
3 - download a copy of netstumbler, and use it to guage the network strength. YOu might have to re-orient the linksys box relative to the place you work.

Juicy, even without a uplink port, you can always cascade one router to another, you are NEVER restricted by how many wired connection you can have (although the DHCP will give up at 253)

Alex

Call tech help and let the guys in India help you out....they just read back the instructions to you and if you have a question that they can't figure out they put you on hold and then hang up.......
