How hard is for big sponsor programs to get their own merchant accounts?

How hard it really is?

If they process enough transactions in dollar terms each month through that account and are not blacklisted then it is not as hard as it seems. Humbolt bank will hook it all up. Problem though for most is the transaction volume minimum.

Doesn't really depend on the program itself, but rather the prinicipals credit history and how solid they are financially. If you can fork out 5K to get setup.. then you should be good.. seems on humboldt is the one taking new accounts.. but they are close to their threshold

I remember when the banks were first doing the adult online merchant accounts and one small bank said if I was going to do over $100K a month they wanted $1 million deposited into their bank per $100K to protect the account.

i would think it's not hard to get a merchant account. if the person has good credit history then he'd be fine.

If you have long history of this project, it is easy to get merchant account.

That makes perfect sense!

I have to pay my boss 10 times what he pays me to protect my job :upsidedow

We have setup 4 merchant accounts through Netbilling now and not one has been a hassle.

its easy to get a merchant account, I got mine through netbilling long ago, very simple.
Now unless you like to rip people off, keep people from canceling their memberships and crap like that, stay away from merchant accounts - all you will do is get your butt thrown in jail.
But if your honest, run an honest business and you are in this for the long haul then merchant account is the way to go - even with the initial costs of getting it set up, you save money in the long run. :2 cents:
