Do you have all your eggs in one basket?
 

Alot of people in the adult business learn the hard way not to put all their eggs in one basket.

Make sure you don't do this as you build your business....

Think of the eggs as your sites, domains, servers, traffic sources, etc...

Here's a quick story, when I first started out fulltime in the biz I had all my sites and webpages on one virtual server account. I had been working hard for a couple months on building my business. I was building pages/sites, submitting like a nut and doing the things it took to increase my income. I was starting to see the results of my hardwork in the size of my checks. :)

Then one day my host when down. :mad: My sites where unavailable for almost 2 full days. For 2 days I had ZERO new sales and lost alot of links from people that where linking to me. The fact I had all my eggs in one basket (All my sites with one host company on one server) cost me big time.

Another example was when AdultCheck cutoff the majority of their affiliates. I thought AdultCheck was solid. Thought they would never screw me. I was making a big percentage of my sales/income with AdultCheck and it was like a kick in the nuts when they stopped sending the checks. :(

... this happened when AdultCheck announced they weren't sending me checks anymore, it was PAINFUL. :Oh crap


So my advice for today is if you are at all serious about having this business support you and give you the good life in the shortest amount of time possible then please make sure you diversify your assets in all aspects.

Apply this rule to EVERYTHING in your business. For example, use more than one host company, build your sites on multiple domain names, use more than one domain name registrar, spread out your traffic to various sponsors, obtain your traffic from more than one traffic source, etc, etc.

Here's a biggie: Backup your data! Invest in a backup drive (about $200). The feeling of "Fuck!" when your harddrive dies or your server is wiped out is unbearable when all it took was backing up your data on a regular basis to avoid that loss of income.

"Don't put all your eggs in one basket" is a lesson I learned the hard way and I urge you to consider it as you build your empire - avoid the same drama I went through!

Nice to see everyone agree with me, now make sure you do it!! Especially the "backup your data" suggestion... I learned the hard way on that one too. :winkwink:

Thats one of the reasons why I think getting paid per signup is a lot better then monthly rebilling % deals. The more signups you send in the more you rebill income grows. Eventually your rebills are a large partion of your income. Then the company shuts down and you lose 10's of thousands of dollars of future income.

PPS or Free Signup (FS), get paid now. why trust the company long term.

And you can go with a company like Cams.com for example. Do it 100% why not. I dont see that as all your eggs in one basket. The most you can lose is 1 - 2 checks, should take you 10 mins and you switched to your backup company. I don't undertand spreading it out amoung PPS or FS programs. If you find the one that works the best, why use others too that make less ???

i have all my eggs in one basket, not worried about the hosting thou, dont think oxeo will fuck up :) but all my wires comes from one sponsor. why did AdultCheck cut you off?

If you have more than 2 baskets you can't carry them all at once and have to make multiple trips...

First of all, no hosting company should be relied upon as "never, ever, ever going to go down"... shit happens sometimes that's totally outta their control.

Second, AdultCheck basically shutdown their affiliate program. I can't remember the details but the moral of the story is dont trust/rely too heavily on any one sponsor/service provider or else you will eventually feel the pain of getting your nuts crushed too. :2 cents:

And people have criticized me over the years for my use of freehosts. Ha! I put certain sites on freehosts, others on paid hosts, others on other hosts, and still others on some other hosts. I've been diversified in all aspects of my online business since day one, and that includes putting a few sites on freehosts.

Those that laugh, well.... what can you say? It's those that laugh that are back here later crying that their one and only server is down.

thanks for the good post, just spurred me to backup all of my important data onto my external hd. Forgot how fuckin' easy that is, and yet so damn useful.
