I use Cubase and Acid, and Sound Forge for editing.
Plus TONS of plugins,, they are amazing these days.

I'm a big fan of Acid. I augment my tracks with keyboards but I only have a cheezy yamaha. I really need to invest in a really nice one someday.

Soundforge for editing

Fruityloops for loops

Ableton Live for putting it all together

My favorite: Pro Tools, Logic.

I use a guitar if I am writing rock, and I use a piano and staff paper if I am composing.

Occasionally I'll drop my staff music into Finale and spit out a MIDI.

I use Sonar 4 producer with a motu 24 I/O converter with focusrite pre amps into a custom PC.
