Am I the only nerd that is looking forward to the new Harry Potter book? Am I?

Book? Dude, those books are huge. How long does it take you to read that?

JFK 03-15-2005 11:45 AM

I think you are . I rather just see the movie :1orglaugh

xclusive 03-15-2005 11:46 AM

I am looking forward to it and it doesn't take long to read that's what's so great about them they have a nice flow to them

SykkBoy 03-15-2005 11:47 AM

I, too, am a Harry Potter nerd and eagerly awaiting the new book
while a lot of the ideas JK uses in her books are "borrowed" from other fanatasy sources, she's a damn good storyteller and I like how she doesn't overly describe things. She gives enough description for you to get an idea in your head, but leaves it vague enough for your mind to fill in the blanks.

Babaganoosh 03-15-2005 11:47 AM

No, I'm looking forward to it too. The last one took me 5 days to get through and that was reading almost constantly. It's hard to work, post on GFY and read Harry Potter all at the same time but I'll do it.

Not long because they are so captivating. Each book gets deaper and darker as the kids get older and their magic gets more intense. Great stuff.

i don't read Harry Potter books. it's too kiddie for me.

boneprone 03-15-2005 11:51 AM

I heard the book has more kinky sexual stuff in it than the movie..

There's some part in the new book, where they are in that all so familar stage in their lives where the kids are all together in a "Ill show you mine if you show me your's" standoff..

Intresting.

boneprone 03-15-2005 11:51 AM

Oh wait.. Wrong book..

It's hardly "kiddie." I'll bet you've never even cracked the spine on a Harry Potter book, have you? I thought the same when I read the first one but I still gave it a shot and loved it. I went and picked up the last book at its midnight release party. A good majority of the people in line were adults and buying it for themselves.

KMR Stitch 03-15-2005 11:53 AM

I want to get it =)

MeganS 03-15-2005 11:56 AM

After all the hype i finally picked up the first one from a used book store and figured i'll just see what all the hype was about ... instantly addicted, couldn't put it down. They are not children's books which surprised me. I love all the HP books and they get better and better each book! I am also a nerd waiting for the newest HP book

HpicAnn 03-15-2005 11:56 AM

No you're not the only one i had read all of them except for this last one that i wish to buy!!

brand0n 03-15-2005 11:58 AM

loverboy 03-15-2005 11:58 AM

Finished the 3rd book (Goblet of Fire) in less than 2 weeks.

Im only on book 4 ,but it will not stop me from buying the new one as soon as it comes out!!!

undermyspell 03-15-2005 12:05 PM

nope.. you aren't alone.. I'll buy it the minute it hits the stands and lock myself in my room for two days while I read it. Then i'll hand it over to the kids and kick myself in the ass for reading it so fast and having to wait forever for the next HP movie or book to be released

Preordered from Amazon. You are right, Rowling's writing is very captivating.

Peaches 03-15-2005 12:34 PM

I've already placed my order for 3 of them :)

Rosie 03-15-2005 12:52 PM

I can't wait - I just hope my members are cool with no updates whilst I'm reading it :)

I love the whole HP series. The book is still so much better than the movies, so for those who liked the movie, you'll definitely love the book. Has anyone here seen the movie and have not even read the book?
Anyway, part 6 is due to come out here on the 16th of July...4 whole months. Is it coming out earlier anywhere else? I want one right away!

Cassie 03-16-2005 08:51 AM

Yup, excellent movies. My kid love them to.

For LOTR , hopefully one day someone will join the 3 movies together, and compile a 3 hours DVD version only from this. Many shit can be removed , especially the tree walking in the forest for 1 hour .. lol

MiaVega 03-16-2005 09:54 AM

you're obviously not alone, I'm looking forward to it, like some other people have posted, never read them until someone gave me the first book set to read, finished them in no time, her last book I finished in less than 2 weeks. It's not often you find good authors or books. Wally Lamb's book are incredible. "This Much I Know Is True" is a great book for anyone interested while waiting for the new HP. :)
