Brand name...

I don't think I could ever spend $200+ on a pair of jeans...

I spend the same amount (or maybe less now) than when I was back in high school...

No...maybe gold diggers. I certainly don't judge people by how expensive their jeans are :1orglaugh

I guess these people spending that much need to impress other people and feel good about themselves...

Jakke PNG 03-15-2005 08:43 AM

a)$200 fancypants
b)$100 for quality brand jeans that last over a year.
c)$20 for a new pair a month of crappy jeans that rip when my big ass bends over.

I choose option b.

CONGRATS, I WIN PIE!

spideriux 03-15-2005 08:44 AM

Cassie 03-15-2005 08:45 AM

I thought rolex's were about status, not pants any worker can afford. :2 cents:

mindoza 03-15-2005 08:48 AM

My dad is a guy who buys what he likes and rarely looks at the price tag.

Last week we were in Bloomingdales and he tried on these jeans he loved. Picked up two and just walked over to pay. I saw the tags but said nothing.

Each pair were $149.00 When he the total I saw the blood drain from his head but he bought them anyway. he said I like them, I can afford them why not...Trust me the only person he looks to please in life is Himself and his family!!!

psili 03-15-2005 08:50 AM

Somehow it helps vapid individuals feel like they have more substance.

It fits so damm good, both female and male

bopha 03-15-2005 08:59 AM

When I was in highschool I went to a store called Merry Go Round and the girl in there shamed me into buying some Gloria Vanderbilt jeans for 50 dollars.
I was just 16 and spent all my babysitting money on them. They fit like crap and looked horrible. I never wore them. I felt stupid and mad that I spent so much on bad jeans.

I can buy Mudd jeans now (23 years later) for 29 dollars and they look great.

I never forgot that shame sale so I buy what I want and screw status jeans.

BRISK 03-15-2005 09:00 AM

This explains why people pay over $200 for jeans: http://sethgodin.silkblogs.com/

Fake Nick 03-15-2005 09:03 AM

I prefere buying fake dockers style pants for 20 euros

escorpio 03-15-2005 09:04 AM

Because they have been convinced by advertising and their shallow peer group that buying $200 jeans will make them cool and give them status.

Basic_man 03-15-2005 09:04 AM

If you spent 200$ on a pair of jeans, you are a metrosexual !

hey everyone has their own thing. if someone told me they spent 10k on a rolex or 200 on a pair of jeans, i would ask if they owned a home or 2. if they told me no, then they would get the standard response of how stupid they are with their money. if they said yes, then they would simply get an "enjoy" from me.

rolex's and high priced jeans are not status to me but to some they are.

does that make sense?

I know enough filthy rich people to know status is nothing to smart people.
I love how a multimillionaire looks like a bum. :)

Rui 03-15-2005 09:26 AM

LOL some of you guys try to hard to be accepted, if it means by whores, skanks, shallow people...

Bigwilly 03-15-2005 09:27 AM

the majority of my wardrobe consists of stolen clothes from friends

austinth 03-15-2005 09:30 AM

Levi's 501 Originals button fly, with the faded look, are my favourite jeans.

clickclickclick 03-15-2005 09:31 AM

self worth = 0
pants = 200

therefore
self worth = 200
pants = 0

loverboy 03-15-2005 09:37 AM

the most i have spent on a pair of jeans is $50 and not going extra
farther than that

BuggyG 03-15-2005 09:43 AM

shit.. gimme a 10$ tshirt and i'm happy
plus I get to laff at the guy who paid 100$ for anotehr tshirt then gets ruined first time he wears it

Twe Russ 03-15-2005 09:45 AM

I spend that much on jeans. I dont like wearing the same exact thing that everyone has.
Boon/Energy, TheFredericHomsOwnWear, Diesel.

Trax 03-15-2005 09:48 AM

jesus... why are you guys so bitchy... If someone wants to spend 200 bucks on a pair of jeans... fine
I bought a suit for 2 grand two weeks ago... and when I imagine how much my ex spent on a pair of shoes you'd go crazy...

same with cars... why can people drive a ferrari instead of a VW but can not wair a pair of jeans for 200 bucks..

hova 03-15-2005 09:50 AM

I've spend about 500$ on a pair of Blue Blood jeans last month.............please hate me

Schwick 03-15-2005 10:18 AM

It is a European thing. Nothing funnier than seeing some kid on a sccoter dressed out to the nines, out for the night. Now go to LA and see some guy that looks like he can't pay his rent and find out he is a liquid millionaire.

tungsten 03-15-2005 10:24 AM

$200 is way too much.. $100 is reasonable

Schwick 03-15-2005 10:34 AM

I paid 75 euros for a pair of Levis that would have cost me $25 dollars here in the states.

MandyBlake 03-15-2005 10:37 AM

i'm a female and i wouldn't spend 200 on jeans.
i don't like it when i have to spend more than 50.

Very true... very true. If you want a 200$ pair of jeans, indulge yourself.

Wizard-X 03-15-2005 10:46 AM

Who knows. My friend buys Diesel. IMHO, I think it is a waste of money.

Spunky 03-15-2005 10:49 AM

The most I have spent was 100 bucks and even that was too much

Slick 03-15-2005 10:51 AM

I only wear Lucky Brand Jeans . I just got two pair in the mail yesterday :) They costed me $98 a pair. The thing about them is that they are high quality, plus they have nice designs, and are pretty comfortable. I'm up to 10 pairs now :)

xclusive 03-15-2005 10:59 AM

$20 and i'm happy and a $10 nike shirt and i'm good to go. I dress so i'm comy can't give two shits what anybody else thinks

nojob 03-15-2005 11:32 AM

I have done that many times. I am a label whore, I admit it.

fl_prn_str 03-15-2005 11:33 AM

i know a few girls jeans I would like to get into......but to pay $200.....no way.

max140 03-15-2005 11:38 AM

$200 yes if it is diesel or duarte

pushpills 03-15-2005 11:41 AM

I mostly like 70-80 dollar jeans.....my friend that worked at abercrombie got me pleanty of the most expensive ones (I think they were 150ish) but they are a little over the top looking, I never wear em. I'd pay 200 if I really liked em, but the 200 dollar ones all look stupid to me.

That sums it up nicely.

Cassie 03-15-2005 11:49 AM

funny thing is, most of those who post the fact that they spent 200 on jeans will be the same people coming back in 6 months complaining about money problems. wait and watch.

cherrylula 03-15-2005 11:55 AM

to compensate where they lack.

*waves pinky finger in the air*

badmunchkin 03-15-2005 11:56 AM

I always bought regular 'ol levis in the past but I gotta say, I bought some diesel jeans recently and they do fit like nothing else. $200+ is really not that much money to spend for some nice-fitting jeans in the grand scheme of things :thumbsup

Some, sure, but not all.

If you can afford it and truly like it... go ahead and buy. Enjoy the money you work hard for. But if you can't afford it and just want to be cool, don't be stupid and try to create a false image. Seeing guys with $500 worth of clothes on when they have trouble paying rent is sad and just plain stupid.

I don't like when people question the way I spend my money, so I try not to do it to others... I just have a really hard time watching "broke" people frivolously spending money, only to complain about being broke again several days later. It just doesn't make sense to me.
