They are ANNOYING! Either put them in a different forum, or ban them. They fill up half the main page with a bunch of garbage contests with equally garbage posts in them.

I try to find something interesting to read, and have to scroll through a bunch of contests that have nothing to do with the industry to even find a "Would you Hit It?(pic)" thread. GRRRRRRRR!

who cares..it is either contest run by reputable adult businesses or thread about people taking a shit...or an update about what juicy is doing this very minute....regardless, there is always too much crap in here, contests just add to it, but they are FAR from the only shit posted on GFY

without contests, "would you hit it" posts and all the other random bullshit that goes on in here this forum wouldn't move anywhere near as fast as it does...

i dont like most of it either but the activity keeps you all coming back.

They normally have a pretty obvious thread title and are ez to avoid.

I HATE the ones that pay $X for 1 million posts etc., so I know not to click on them.

I check about 3% of threads on the board...

I ignore others for various reasons, but I wouldnt ask for the other 97% to be banned...

contests are good but a seperate forum might not be a bad idea

I don't necessarily like them either. It defeats their purpose for running them if they had their own area to post. The whole point is to attract people to send traffic there.

Well i can tell you this.

It didnt get so big by creating a hundred different categories and having mods move threads to the correct category. And ban people/ contests because the other gfy members were upset.

What smut fails to realize is that there are two ways to look at things.

1. Be pissed off at surfers being at gfy

2. Or realize that they have to spend 7 days posting in a contest for the CHANCE to win $150, while me or smut or other wembasters can work for an hour or less and make the same amount

Noone spends time posting in them, they all have setup 10-15 accounts on bots that spider the forum watching the post count, when it hits 20 to prize they all post like crazy, meanwhile theres another 50 accounts created that just post a worthless message to get it to the prize spot.

What's amazing is that noone has figured out how to remove these bots, as all you have to do is img src a sig and you can view your logs to find all the bots spidering
the thread lol, some even clue you in on whats really going on and who's really winning all the prizes :)

I must agree that there are too many contests in GFY, and I have some balm in it as well.
But you need to understand that this is the biggest webmaster board out there, and due to that there are many affiliate programs that would like to post their announcements over this board. About 3-4 years ago when we started buying advertising spots in this board there were only 15 ? 20 spots in the top banner, so if you had an announcement, you could post it in the banner and everyone could see it. These days the rotation is between 70 banners, so no one can see it any more.

Now let?s talk about today, PussyCash has uploaded a new campaign that most webmaster will benefit from knowing about it. The only way for us to make sure that webmasters will know about it, is by posting a contest, and making sure that our announcement will stay up on the first page.

If you have a different idea on how to do it, I?ll be more then happy to hear about it. :2 cents:
