Why does everyone's eyes light up when they hear someone is selling these things? They're overpriced small boxes and not as good as store bought cookies.

What I want to know is how come there have been two threads about Girl Scout cookies on GFY in less than 2 weeks?

I missed the last one, but I'm just sitting here in my office being pissed off that all these inconsiderate assholes are bringing their kids into the office trying to extort money out of everyone.

Aren't they like 3 bucks a box or something..it's not like it's going to break you

I bought almost a hundred bucks worth a couple of days ago. What I think that sucks about it is the troops make such a small percentage off of them...but I guess every little bit helps them out.

As posted in other thread, you can get them alot cheaper on ebay. Thin out the heard of non internet solictitors.

when you buy a box of girl scout cookies you aren't just buying a box of cookies.. you are helping an organization that teaches young girls valuable lessons about life, charity, working with others, and how to work hard to reach goals etc etc. that.. in my opinion is worth maybe paying a little extra for a box of cookies.. also.. a small package of pepperidge farm cookies cost more than a box of girl scout cookies...most places.. girl scout cookies only cost $3 a box. quit being such a mean spirited asshole.

I got two boxes and the quality has really gone down hill. The Do si do's had cookies but the peabutnutter was missing on half of them. Damn.

Non english speaking girlscout didn't leave her name and number so I could complain.

Since they aren't available all the time, people go nuts when cookie time comes around. If they sold them all year long, I bet their sales would decrease dramatically.

That said, I still LOVE them :)

My point, that several of you seem to have missed, is that the cookies don't taste any better than ones you can get in the store, but everybody acts like they are the greatest things in the world when someone mentions that they have them or are selling them. I have no problem with the fact the girls are selling them and we pay a little extra to help them out. Just wondering why some people get all googly eyed about 'em. Some of you answered correctly by stating that you love a certain kind of cookie.

Another question: How come some people, whenever they see a post on a message board that they disagree with, have to call the poster an asshole or something? Other than the obvious reason that they haven't matured past the age of 12. What's the point?

Actually they do seem to be available all year round here. There's always a sign-up sheet in the office, and there are girls with a table setup in front of the grocery store every month it seems.

The same reason most people don't buy generic food that tastes the same as the "popular" version.

Mmm... Thin mints. I've never tasted a cookie better than that, and nothing at the store is comparable...
