RSS: How I will make more $$$ reading blogs...
 

I have been hard at work the whole day converting my adultwebmaster blog at www.iadultwebmaster.com to the wordpress platform.

While I am doing the upgrade I finally get around to using my first "RSS reader".

Now, like those who have never used one, I have been hearing about these damn "rss readers" for months and just never got around to figuring out exactly what they are or how they work.

This is how PornHero felt about RSS feeds and RSS readers...

Here's my conclusion about RSS feeds and RSS readers:
Using RSS feeds and readers is so simple and makes you a more knowledgeable adultwebmaster which means more $$$ in your pocket!

How I am going to make more money with other people's adultwebmaster blogs:

Here are the 4 simple steps:

STEP 1. Choose a RSS reader
- a 'rss reader' is like an internet browser made especially for blogs and 'rss feeds'
- lets you see the headlines for the recent entries on blogs you are interested in.
- there are tons of RSS readers, some of them are web-based
I just discovered www.rocketinfo.com (it's free)
- once you use a rss feeder for the first time you realize just how effective a tool it can be.

STEP 2. Add adultwebmaster blogs to my rss reader.
The majority of quality blogs allow you to add their "rss feed" to your rss reader.
- an rss feed is simply a url to insert into your rss reader -
for example if you decide to try www.rocketinfo.com add my rss feed
The rss feed for my iadultwebmaster blog is: " http://www.iadultwebmaster.com/feed/ "

I've added the rss feeds from these blogs and more...
- www.kblogger.com
- http://justtraffic.blogspot.com/


STEP 3. Every morning while I am having my coffee I am going to browse through the adultwebmaster blogs I've added to my reader to get the latest news and info from all the adultwebmaster blogs I am tracking.

- Fast, one click access to my favorite sources of adult business information.
- No need to waste time surfing to a blog if i dont see anything of interest
- Ability to keep track of as many different blogs as I want (not just adultwebmaster blogs)

STEP 4. Use the latest adult business news and info that I get from the blogs in my daily business activies to stay one step ahead of my competition. :pimp

There you have it... I will use the info and advice that I read on adultwebmaster blogs to help me make more money. My rss reader presents the informative blog entries on my desktop in a fast, efficient and effective manner.

SUGGESTION FOR SPONSORS:
- Build a simple "affiliate's blog" for your sponsor program so that webmasters like myself can add your feed to see what is the latest news/updates for your sponsor program without having to log into your webmaster area.

- All you are really doing would be converting your "News" section of your webmaster area to a blog format using a blog script like www.wordpress.org.

The best is when you inlclude other people's RSS feeds "into" your site. Everyone benefits.

I you add a news FEED in to your site for example, you instantly have fresh content every day, without the need of doing absolutely nothing. And yes, we know Google loves fresh content.

If someone adds your feed to their site, you benefit for the increased exposure and extra traffic that the feed will generate for you.

RSS is a true win/win situation.

Praguer (or anyone else), please post a few sentences or link explaining how to include other people's RSS news feeds into your site? I am sure it is a very simple process but worth explaining for us RSS newbies.

Answers:
1. I assume the traffic can build up cuz its like having people bookmark your blog when they add it to their reader. For example, I am going to be visiting manowar's http://www.businessvoyeur.com/ blog alot more cuz it is right in my reader and I can see the entries he has posted each day.

2. I think you need to be using an advanced blog script like wordpress or typepad. I am upgrading my blog to wordpress from a simple blog script that did not offer RSS feeds.

There are many to choose from, just run a search in google - or if anyone has any suggestions for good non-webbased RSS readers please post them here cuz I'd like to know about them too. :)

If you use dreamweaver, you may find it useful. However, in my opinion it's too complicated to use:

- Will not require a database. PHP only.
- You can have categories and dozens of different feeds. You will manage which feed to include in what page of your site
- You will have different templetes to use and format your feeds.
- You will be able to select how often to update your feed.
- It will also have a Bookmarklet to add a site to your page while you browse.

make sure when you add it that you check to see if you have autofind rss in your index page html (i think wordpress does it automatic) and you go back and switch it to your new feedburner url that way you can keep track of all the hits your feeds getting. cheers.

With Wordpress, when you "add link" scroll down the page a little after you enter the basic info, you will see a place on the form for RSS URL or something link that . . . it will be obvious

There is a bug in it that fucks up my blog. . . had to turn it off. Wasn't wrapping characters on long URLs. You experience that, and if so, figured out a fix?

You can manually add whatever pingomatic doesn't hit quite easily
