Do you need a licensed pyschologist to run an advice site?

My friend runs a website based on advice..kinda like a dear abby thing.
The question is does she need to be a psychologist to give out advice and what's the best method of making money for her?

Not sure how the laws apply on the internet giving advice, but in real life you can be punished by law for giving that type of advice, so stupid

Bosco4y2k3 03-14-2005 12:36 AM

that would be about the same as asking for money for the advice.

As long as she isn't making claims that she has some credentials that she actually doesnt have, then I doubt there is much of a problem. Of course a good disclaimer is always necessary.

I'm not a doctor, but I play one while I sit in my underwear and post on the internet.

Interesting...I too am not a Doctor, but I play one at sorority parties - a gynecologist (for an amateur I am rather good at smearing pap, or so I'm told).

She should at least put a disclaimer on her site. Ie., "This site is for entertainment purposes only..." put in some hold harmless language to release the site owner from liability.
