google question
does it matter for google if your first page is index.php ?
|
No I don't think so.
|
Not at all but if someone is sending links to http://www.blah/index.php
and http://www.blah Then this can but who really knows affect and generate SPAM points deducted Definately hurts your count for that page when split in half dont promote as index.php promote that as http://www.domain.com There is no need to ever call a index.php in a URL http://www.blah.com/?moo=foo works just the same index.php is controlled via DirectoryIndex in apache and probably everythign else httpd wise and can be set to auto load before index.html |
Am I the only one thinking that the seo questions over here are getting more and more moronic every day... what makes you think that it matter if you use htm html shtml asp php or whatthefuckever as you index extension... i don't get it

Why is it moronic, google may place loss of points for .php files if they so desire
If you notice anything you notice that pdf files seem to get good higher rankings Gee you think they know a pdf file is a more meaningful document so why not give it more ranking points. I personally have adult search engines that dont rank php or cgi files at all I dont see many .php files when searching google. Thumbs up for asking a qreat question, but you shouldnt worry about this at all, make good sites with content and get links and youll start getting real valid worthy traffic When you try to cheat the system you'll see no results or temporary results. However with all that said, just keep the top of your page very clean with little garbage such as <script> crap and other nonsense html, the top of your page is very important Heres a tip for you.. let's say your site is dealing in golf why use index.php when you can use anything DirectoryIndex golf.php golf.shtml golf.html golf.htm http://www.mydomain.com/golf.php will give you alot better results then http://www.mydomain.com/index.php will |
I agree. To think that it has to be "logical" and "natural" just because google does it that way, that is moronic. Sure there is a logic behind what google does, but that is the logic of their own mind, it didn't "have to be" the way it is.
