I just ftp 500megabytes of content from content provider.is this enough to start a paysite with?

Dude.... we run NO LESS than 2 and a half gigs for a paysite.... and that is WAAAAAY short.... should be a minimum of ten gigs. G-I-G-S!

I think it's enough. For an FNP Premium you need only 300 images. Imagine... if you were to use 500 images with your 10K that's a total of 20 Premium sites. 33 if you use 300 images. Now if you build a PaySite it could be enough content. You can always try it and see!

Remember this is spacedog. Just last week he was looking for script coders for a prdoduct that would revolutionize the porn world as we know it, but he dosn't even have paid hosting. I know he's been through a lot of shit, but there are steps to opening a paysite. It's like a ladder. Spacedog -- don't worry about these guys. I know guys that do very well with just a few dozen galleries behind an AVS.
I am by no means a pro on paysites -- but I know at least a couple of programs that focus on quality/originality rather than quantity... easier said than done though :p |

it depends on your content.. 10000 dwarf images? yeah for sure.... but i wouldn't go making a paysite with 500 meg of non-niche freebie sponsor images.. im assuming you didn't pay right?

you could lease some plug-in content like some games and a live cam feed, maybe a webchat. that could flesh it out for you if you want a paysite. if it's an avs, you've got enuff.

First off...I never said I was going to compete with the BIG paysites.. Second..Unlike most of you all..I have yet to create any paysite? So, due to no experience with it, I thought I'd ask the ones that know..I've seen quite a few paysites with not so many images...Besides..I don't plan on a mega site..just a small site..I planned on making the site free..(To an extent).. My idea was to choose 2 sponsors to discuss my plan with about an idea.. Surfer joins my site for FREE for one year & get's 3 days free pass to several sites of 2 sponsors..THEN..if surfer does not cancel the 3 day pass, it would in theory recur at $signup rate X # of sites in package x 2 sponsors.... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ theoretically..the surfer will be so damn fucking busy surfing 50 ARS sites that he'll forget to cancel his membership.. I finished opening a hundred or so zip files..& discovered that it's not 10,000 images...more closer to 4000 to 5000 with several CRAP which'll likely leave me with 2500 to 3000 useable images & the movies which are HQ w/sound & 1 to 3 min clips.. Start by learning how to make a profit on paid hosting with free or AVS sites before you start with the paysite stuff. If you can't do that, then there's no point in even moving up the next level. |

a paysite that retains with 500 mb of content? on updates alone, we add like 4 - 6 times that, per month, per site. and you'll need more than that if you aren't shooting exclusive.
but if you are talking an avs site, that's a very different thing. you are not selling a stand alone site, you are selling access to a whole shit load of little sites. |

Did I say START a paysite.. Yep..START.. Not once did I mention or imply or say that this content would be the whole of the site.. START..that's the key word here.. You figure, by the time I finish creating the tour, aquire the billing processor, code the pages, build the graphics, build the interfaces, aquire the domain name, set up an affilliate program, aquire an adequate host..aquire all necesarry records & legal doc's..(Were looking at least 2 to 3 weeks here..)..Well, that's a start..Kay..now after this..it's time to get MORE content because my surface is prepped so I can apply the finish... NOW, I'll ask again..is this enough to work with to START a paysite..Not complete & make a whole..START OUT..Granted it will probably be a few weeks before any major traffic comes in..you know how much could be added in that time? Maybe I don't type out the way I think in my head.. So..how much content did you all buy when you started your paysites or avs sites.. You go out & buy 50 gigs for the first start then 2 weeks later add another 50 gigs for your bi-monthly update.. In a year you must've added 1200 gigs of images.... Maybe this biz is only for those that got a fat wallet to begin with.. See..I can live with the free hosts & free content..because I make $$$ with it at this level...so, who knows what'll happen at the next level... Well I think Amp made his point... I tried the AVS thing once and I thought I could convert my own traffic w/ my own tour because I know graphics and a few tricks. Hell no I flopped on my ass. It's very difficult. Learn from a pro ;) Either that or get some exclusive hot content that sells itself.

maybe try reading the thread again. several people have mentioned that for a stand alone pay site, you'll need several gigs per month of content for updates. this doesn't include your 'base' content which should *much* larger volume than your updates. and unless you are shooting exclusive content only, your milage will vary. 500 mb is not even close to being enough to start a pay site, let alone retain members. avs is a different story. completely different things.
