Is using only text links to promote sponsors a bad idea? No banners or hpas or anything, just descriptive text.

I get better click throughs with text links, don't have much use for banners anymore since surfers seem to be immune to the common sizes and placements. -
Banners are good for decoration but not necessarily clicks although they work well combined.I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

I rarely use banners. Maybe just a nice wide banner on the warning page. I usually put an HPA on the main page though.
Lots of text links are good though. They draw clicks and they make good food for search engines.
