Ever been infected with Mediaplex spyware?

The fuckers installed their crap on my machine. Now certain google listings get redirected to ebay stores (who buy advertising from Mediaplex).
Its both happens with IE and Firefox. I did some reading and supposedly its only a cookie.
Well i deleted my cookies, my cache, used 3 anti spyware tools plus 1 online scan. I opted out for the tracking on their site and still i get redirected to ebay...fuck this pisses me off so much you cant even imagine.

Im so thinking about doing something realllllly bad to their website.

Dirty F 03-10-2005 06:41 PM

I did, nothing there.

You're done....don't even try to figure it out. I tried for so long to eliminate the garbage, I just ended up reformatting and doing a clean install.

Where (How) did you get infected? Just so I know what to avoid.

I also got some Adware/Spyware shit on my PC a few weeks ago, took me an entire Day and the usage of 5 different Tools to get rid of that shit.

Well you could go look for a crack or serial for it, but thats probably how you got infected in the first place.

Actually, i dont recall visiting any shady sites lately plus i use FF for 99% of the sites i visit. I really wonder how and where i got infected.

The thing is both FF and IE are fucked now because of this mediaplex thing.

IceMaster 03-11-2005 06:06 AM

I have been infected by many spyware but i dont remember each name.

Yeah I've had it and eventually had to re format as I couldn't find a fix, I was pissed. I've seen tons of sites recently trying to make a buck with it, they're getting sneakier with it and labeling it by very deceptive names in order to get it on your pc.

Paul 03-11-2005 10:11 AM

I have no solutions to your immediate problem Franck but for the future I'd suggest you using Norton Ghost This program creates an image file of your entire harddrive which you can copy on a backup drive or DVD roms. When you want to boot up your backup you just insert your norton ghost CD and it boots your harddrive back up again within less than 20 mins.

I backup mine now every week so if i ever end up with some spyware or virus I just bootup my most recent norton ghost backup and everything is back to normal within 20 mins

Dirty F 03-11-2005 01:11 PM

Ok thanks
