Man this is some good beer. I've never had a brown beer go down so smoothly and with NO aftertaste. It's incredible.....Smooth, fruity, and gives you a nice earthy buzz. If you can find some of this in your area and you like brown beer, get some of this. I'm about to crack this badboy open right now! |
lol this is the first time I see this... you would think a Dutchman would recognize it :upsidedow
|
Cool, I'm friends with some liqour importers in Alberta.
I'll get them to stock that |
your cats got some mean eyes

never heard of that doubt if its for real, lemme look it up... |
just as i thought, its not originally from there, one of holland biggest breweries rented a spot inside the domain, so theyre allowed to call it a monk beer, sucks cause thats all machine made beer, nothing to do with the monks
Its owned by la trappe, pretty big brewery |
this is pretty funny
3. Opbrengsten zijn bestemd voor het onderhoud van de abdijgemeenschap en worden verder ter beschikking gesteld van charitatieve doeleinden. meaning that the revenue of the beer has to go to the monastry lol id doubt la trappe does that... they pay the sucker 10k a year and get the monksbeer (trappisten as we call it) name, marketing strategy nothing but that |
Sure it must me export :)
Never saw it here. |

Have you ever visited La Trappe? It's still a monestary. Yes, they have modernised quite a bit, but it's still one. But its true, there's pretty much none left in the Netherlands. If you want to make a nice day out go to Belgium and visit the De Sint-Sixtusabdij van Westvleteren. You can buy Westvleteren in the better beershops or biercafes. However, the abbey doesn't sell it's beer through a big distributor. You can visit the abbey and get a tour. You can have a drink over there as well. But they don't use any big distributors for their beer(like Interbrew does). IF you see it, it means somebody went down there and bought the beer straight from the monks. Yes, it's being exported around the world (drank it at Bieres et Compagnie in Montreal) but in the end it comes straight from the monks :) |
Well I feel like the American Idiot now.....But the beer is still good :)
|
The best beer is Extra from company Svyturys, (available in the US now)
I think everyone who luvs beer should check their local stores and try it. The taste is really good. I found out that it came from Lithuania. check it http://www.ratebeer.com/Ratings/Beer...sp?BeerID=1381 |
If you want some real good beer try to find a Grimbergen, Dekoninck, Westmalle, Affligem, Corsendonck or a Leffe. All top quality belgian beers! :thumbsup

nope never been to la trappe, but i drink it lots like many others, since im like 2 miles away from belgium, going there tonight as well, got the maredsous at delhaize closeby here... thing is the whole idea is gone, its all big time breweries now, la trappe is part of bavaria, not interbrew but still pretty big, i like the idea of monks making beer and thats a big gone when i hear bavaria... same as the bottles they used till same bobo said they needed machine compliant bottles.. im glad belgiums dont do that shit and still use bottles theyve been using for ages, its sentiment i know but still... postedit : visited the site nice, seems cool, thats near the coast though, few hrs from here, but ill certainly drop by the next time im in knokke :) thanks for the link |
hehe, never seen that before!
what I like a lot: Witte Raaf & St. Louis kriek Maybe you should try a Heineken oud bruin, those are smooth as well.. |
You should try "Brouwerij het IJ" in Amsterdam, they brew their own beer, and it's soooo good
