Does a link back to google or yahoo improve SE ranking? I've seen a link to SE's on several sites...was just wondering :)

Why would it? If you link to a directory category that's specific to the content of your website then I'm sure it would help.

Then again Google and Yahoo are both publicly traded companies so the bottom line is number one. I suppose they might view any attempt to get surfers to their sites as beneficial and give a bonus to links back to them.
