Digital Camera's are Dead??
http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news.php?newsId=1014
So its finally happened...we have a 7 megapixel cameraphone on the market... the human eye has trouble discerning above 5 megapixel so quality is top draw.....mobile/camera/music/ (and anythingelse you can think of) convergence is here...its the MPV of phones and expect to see every other manufacturer following suit. What do we think GFY...does this mean the death of stand alone digital cameras...will those of you who shoot perhaps shoot with mobile phones one day, chose/edit/crop and then upload to your WAP sites from the studio floor!!?? Are Nikon, Cannon, Pentax in deep trouble? |
Nice... but still no optical zoom... U need a long lense
|
This means all of fuck all

looks like its got all that accoriding to Korean Times? |
i don't think good SLR cameras will ever totally be replaced.
|
NOt likely there will always be a pro end camara.
I do not see companies putting into Cell phones the complexities required or necessary elements for real photography work. Cell phones will remain point and shoot for idiots. |
Pretty soon they'll add coffee making stuff to all those all-in-one thingies
|
No, but Digital cams will be taken a step foward soon enough
Soon we'll have instant transfer wirelessly from our cams to our home computers |

Digital cameras are here to stay. They only need to be improved.
|
The most important the next: The lense..., the light and your professionalism :-) Yes I use digital camera as well ( 11 m.Pix ) And you can see sample of pictures here:

so the difference between a 5 megapixel and a 7 or 8 megapixel camera is like between making an 8x10 print and a poster size print. i dunno about your eyes but i can certainly tell the difference between a 5 megapixel image and an 8 megapixel one. Even if you are not making prints.. taking photos in very high resolution makes photoshopping details very easy. and then you just shrink the image down to website size. |
You know what I would like to see?
A cell phone that makes phone calls. |
I still think digicams are cool. :thumbsup
|
|
i don't think digicams will be phased out by that in the near future

pffft end of the day it's still not quality...
hand held digital cams - your tourist style travel and snapshot while your on holiday MIGHT one day fade away, but phone quality pics arent concending with good sony etc digital cams, even if they are 7mpixel the graphics processing is still poor... and yeah, nothing for a fair while will compete with a good digital SLR |
nikon is coming out with a camera that will transfer wirelessly to your computer. bill gates and conan o'brain we're demo'ing it at CES
|
won't phase regular cameras out but i'd like one
|
fucking nice, hope they make the way over here.

oooh good to know, ty for that information, didnīt know
|
I just like my cellpone as basic as possible....No fancy shit, I get the free ones that come with the plans when you sign up.
|
Some crap phone will never replace digital cameras for photoshoots. Real cameras simple have a lot of different options, and functionality some phone doesn't. Not to mention battery life.

Ummm digital photo 101. It's not just the megapixels that counts it's the size of the cmos or ccd chip.
A 7 megapixel picture taken on a 1/4" chip is not the same as a 7 megapixel picture taken on a 1 inch chip. It's kinda like grain in film cameras. You have to blow it up to far to make a decent photo. |
I don't think it will ever replace it. In any case if one breaks then you lose both. Like the TV video combination, those never took off because once your video breaks, you need to send your entire TV to be repaired. The cell phone cams could be fun but nothing to be taken seriously.
|
Digital SLRs will always be here
|
I agree, phones will never replace the digital cameras...

It's not a phone anymore.. it's camera with calling possibility
|
The tiny lens and sensor in a phone cannot compare to a DSLR regardless of the number of pixels. Smaller/cheaper sensors and optics result in artifacts like purple blooming, chromatic abberation, barrel distortion, digital noise, etc.
If the thing in a phone was as good then DSLR's would be a lot smaller, wouldn't they? |

It's true. Too bad most people don't get that concept. |
did they use their own camera phone to take the promo pic of their phone cam. It is blurry as shit :1orglaugh :1orglaugh
|
no not dead, digital cameras is very good thing.

Setting aside the "smart" spam, you needed an 11 megapixels cam to do that? :helpme Not that the models are ugly or anything, but the photo could be considered as pro-am as the best. And that if I'm having a really good day :( |
