Does your spouse forget that you are "working" while at home?

my gf is great and super understanding about almost everything but she does tend to forget that even though I'm sitting on the couch, I am working and can't just get up and go do something all of a sudden.

Take today for example.. she worked a half day so she got home early and wanted me to do all these things... chores, run to the store....

I can sort of understand how she thinks that way, since she's in an office during the day and comes home and sees me sitting here... but still. If I really wasn't doing anything, then those chores and the run to the store would have been done.

Does this happen to you?

Man, I am having the same problem.

My keeps getting pissed. She says shit like, "I wish I could sit at home all day."

I'm essentially working 18 hour days and getting called lazy for doing it.

hahaha... don't give me no gruff mister... I know you'd get the same flack, that's why you set up the office instead of a home operation :1orglaugh

That happens to me all the time. Or friends will call up asking me to get a party organized or something. When I let them know I'm actually working they kind of say "BUT ALL YOU DO IS LOOK AT PORN"

God I wish my job was looking at porn, I'd be the most happy, richest man alive. :D

Get this all the time from my parents, gf and friends.

I jus explain that my hands were not made for work... they are strictly for foreplay!

cool1 03-09-2005 05:54 PM

Yes Stuart it used to happen to me too!
Friends are the same way but not as bad.
There is no cure for it except maybe try putting her to work doing what you are doing.
she may then understand a bit.
But don't hope for miracles :winkwink:

I always get that. "You don't have to work" or "You never work" also get used a lot.

WiredGuy 03-09-2005 06:51 PM

I have friends who think I do nothing all day and just veg all day. I can imagine if thats the image we give, then your spouse would want you to do tons of chores...

The bottom line is the $$$$$$.

It is called *work* because it earns you MONEY.

Steer the discussion away from the location --and towards the green.

My husband doesn't understand why dinner isn't on the table and the house spotless when he comes home from work sometimes. He forgets that I do just as much as he does in his 8 hours .....but I don't ask him to come home and throw in a load of laundry on HIS lunch break, lol.

xlogger 03-09-2005 07:45 PM

The thing to do is not get a G/F at all. What do you need one? SEX? Thats what hookers are for.

This was, no bitching about wathing porn, spending too much time on 'forums', going on 'dates', asking where i was every sec of the day and going through my cell and calling #'s that she dont know. ext..

PHPdude 03-09-2005 07:52 PM

sometimes but its not really such of a big deal

rowan 03-09-2005 08:21 PM

My wife is pretty cool about it. Most of my sites are fully automated so I can walk away from them for a few hours if she's home for the day.

What she DOESN'T understand is when I'm on a roll, some great idea that needs to be developed and finished NOW, she just complains I spend too much time on the computer. :1orglaugh
