Digital Camera - Whats on Top Now? Help Photographers

Well, I feel a bit out of the loop with cameras. I'be been shooting with a Nikon D1 for about 4 years now and its been great, but I think its time to step it up and go with a new camera. I was hoping some other photographers could help me out with some suggestions.

Please tell me what camera you like, the pros and cons.

I really appreciate it.

What about a camera that is around the $1000 range. the 20D is sweet, but I only shot for web content, and I may not need that much camera.
