It's really hard to get some job, isn't it?
I thinking of droping this job and start working as volunteer in hospital!!! The net is crowded with designers, and very few are really good. Also some are gone too far with prices!!! Because of 'em I had few jobs for the past couple of months. Shame...

Every high school kid with a pirated copy of Photoshop thinks he/she's going to grow up one day to be a graphic designer or digital artist...
Then they get to college and realize that everyone else had the same idea :p meanwhile the ones that skipped college are doing most of the world's graphics work for minimum wage. When I was just getting into college, the huge demand for 3D animators was already being filled. Joe Blow off the street was getting paid up to 100k right off the bat... then a hoard of people decided to become 3D animators overnight after the media hype -- many mothers and fathers all over the world said, "Son you can be a computer animator -- yeah! Computers are the future! You'll make money!" -- Hahaha... I've heard that so many times. Then the market was flooded... last I checked you needed to attend a very expensive animation school -- then do internship work for free -- then provide a "demo reel" -- and maybe your work will be among the stacks and stacks of other demo reels piling up at all the top animation houses and game companies. I saw really talented hard working (around the clock working) people bust ass their entire college career and then not get a job... These companies realized they could shed off all their older more expensive employees in favor of young kids and pay in "pizza and caffine" and dirt wages... This all happened overnight in a matter of 3 years. By the time I was half way through my "electronic media" art program I had already realized it was a dead industry ... Anyway it's pretty sad but the people that really love to do graphics will still do it even if they don't get paid. ------------------ http://www.thefly.net/flybump.gif ...from the nectar of the Bone flows all that clicks... |
if you've got the talent, start spending your time building your own AVS sites, TGP galleries, link list sites, freesites and whatever else you can build.
I used to think making money in this business was a joke, but the truth is if you just stay consistent and build/submit everyday, have a moderate ability to sell, and find the right sponsor, 2 or 3 months of daily work will start paying off in big traffic numbers, and you really do start making decent cash. I was a skeptic, now i'm a believer. Nz |
Tina,
If you've got skills build but can't find work maybe you should build your own pay sites. I garauntee you'll make more money than designing for other people... SixNine ------------------ http://www.soulcash.com/images/pole-sign.gif |
