"Google Account"

Quote:

Welcome to Google Accounts. Your Google account will ultimately provide universal access to all Google services that require you to sign in. Your Google account will make it easier for you to use all of the services Google offers without having to remember and enter your username and password multiple times.
When gmail becomes public, it will also be included there. Looks like they are doing the same thing yahoo has done.

Gmail itself is not public and will never be. Gmail is a service offered by Google. Google has actually been public since August 19th, 2004. Anyone who's hasn't been under a rock these past few months knows this.

But I guess that when Gmail and Hotmail goes public, it will make the internets better huh? :helpme

Yeah yeah yeah! Gmail is in Beta. Fuck, everything is in Beta for what seem likes forever at Google. Think how long has Google news has been around and it's still in "beta". That doesn't mean anything since the service is available and functional.

So what's your point exactly? That because gmail is still in "beta" that Google has not gone public yet? They have been since august.

Perhaps you misread the original post. He was referring to Google's gmail going public (right now is in Beta) and that they are positioning themselves to be the next generation Yahoo.

I mentioned this in another thread, but within the next 3-5 years they will probably partner with a telco and take Yahoo head on.

:pimp

Exactally. I could'nt have said it better. You will see google comming up with lot more shit. eg. Online Auction (that will be huge), their own browser, much much more. Look at the publicity gmail has gotten. The others will be even bigger.

....Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall in those Google meetings where they plan shit. Seems they have a two-pronged attack to take on both Yahoo and Microsoft.

Here's an interesting article I posted a while back about their overall possible future plans (mainly against MSN)
