How many of you depend on Google for your livelihood?

If Google were to crash and burn tomorrow how many of you would have to shut your business down?

Google traffic is about 35 - 40% of my traffic so I would take a huge hit. I think I would be able to survive...but it would hurt like a bitch at first! I certainly would have to start pumping a lot more money into marketing.

I just find it amazing at how many companies put 100% of their livelihoods in the hands of Google.

Pendo 03-08-2005 06:18 PM

It would take me about 10% of traffic

pornguy 03-08-2005 06:21 PM

I would say about 10% as well.

Google seriously used to be 100% of my livelihood. But the fucker killed a whole bunch of my sites and I've been forced to get into other stuff much earlier than I planned. I seriously think there should be laws against Google manually penalising websites.

sumphatpimp 03-08-2005 06:37 PM

you are taking a very big chance.
google is a pubicly held company now, anything can happen.

Rorschach 03-08-2005 06:58 PM

I just had 90,000 pages dropped so I am feeling quite glum... but nevermind. :)

If G went belly up people would flock to yahoo... which would be quite good actually.

Alex 03-08-2005 06:59 PM

TGPs would hurt 5%
All other sites.

80%

detoxed 03-08-2005 07:00 PM

Would have no impact on my traffic or income

PHPdude 03-08-2005 07:50 PM

google makes the job of promoting a lot more easier

WiredGuy 03-08-2005 08:00 PM

I'd rather not think about it.

People will still search for stuff

warlock5 03-08-2005 08:39 PM

I get better traffic with other search engines. I wouldn't complain if traffic was divided equally between Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

Sosa 03-08-2005 08:42 PM

well right now it wouldn't affect all that much, but ask the same question in a few months and I will hopefully have a different answer.

Spunky 03-08-2005 08:43 PM

Concentrate on MSN and Yahoo :thumbsup

Kevsh 03-08-2005 08:44 PM

I'd be toast - Google accounts for at least 50% of my traffic. When Yahoo was using Google results, even higher.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

thaifan99 03-08-2005 09:28 PM

70% google here..........lowering that%
