high server load?
I am running a failry heavy php/mysql backend on a server of mine, its a single 2.4GHz P4 with 1000MB RAM and CPANEL says its maxing out sometimes even showing 2.5 -3.0 server load.
Would I be better off upgrading to a Dual 2.4GHz Xeons with 1000MB RAM or a 3.2GHz P4, 800MHz FSB also with 1000MB RAM? Will either of these actually make a significant difference to my execessive server load? |
It depends if the server is optimized or not ... hit me up on ICQ 44-33-144 I can look into that for you

I agree with JFP on this one... tweak first then add more RAM. If that does't work then consider a Dual 3.0+ with 2GB's RAM and SCSI drives.

I bet you $$ that you can tweak the server to run much better first. Pay a couple $$ to have someone do some optimising first. Then, consider upgrading :)
And I can recommend JFPdude for helping you out... |
Remove stats , they take a lot cpu usage.

def recommend JFPdude :thumbsup
