Man, i'm not even a star wars fan and i can see that those are wookies.

i thought that was what they wanted to originally do. but they could not find enough 7ft tall people to play the role of the wookies.

i was a huge star was fan during the time the old films came out.

although the special effects sucked ( they were quite ok for this time :) )
the films were great.
i loved em but the new films are a huge dissapointment

Actually they thought a bunch of wookies ripping the arms off of storm troopers would be too traumatic for the children in the audience. Hence the smaller, cuter, cuddlier ewoks who defeated 12 legions of the emperors best troops with some sticks, stones, and a friggin hang-glider.
