Business Thread: Optimizing TGP GALLERIES for search engines

Many people say that freesites are better then tgp galleries because they are better optimized for search engines. I agree with this but I think galleries can still be optimized as well. Now I don't want to discuss the actual SEO for the gallery pages such as keywords in the gallery, meta tags, alt text etc'.
Assume you know how to do this good enough. what I'd like to discuss is what's the best way to interlink the galleries to get the best results.

For example, one idea is to make a hub page and link to all the galleries from it, and have this page indexed. This idea has a few disadvantages because first of all, if you make the hub page on the same domain from which you sibmit the galleries, curious tgp surfers would find it and have no problem seeing all your galleries. another disadvantage is that you will probably not gain so much from the PR of the tgps where your gallery appears, but will mostly benefit from the incoming links to the hub page.

I hope you get the idea, and feel free to make your own suggestions and input.

I dont think it is negative when surfers come to your hub and see all of your own galleries , your sale potential might be inreased .. Maybe he'll find your other galleries more appealing than the one he came from and signs up.

Galleries are harder that Freesites because most are linked through the TradeScript Code which make the not ( all ) appear in search enginges, while fressites are all linked directly.

I think the idea with the hub is good , for every sponsor / site a new hub page :thumbsup

I'm getting ~30% of the sales my galleries generate from SE Traffic, and I'm using only some very basic SEO.

Been doing this since I started in this business.

Funny thing is I have talked about this with 3 clients today so far LOL.

Well the question is HOW you do it?
I think everyone agrees that a hub would be a good idea...

Sponsors using Ninjito (Such as Raven Riley, FTV Cash and the Amateur Facials Crew) enjoy getting SE on all their hosted galleries, due to the fact the URLs are 100% SE friendly. If you're a sponsor interested, see sig.

And yes - galleries are great for SE.

I would link those galleries to FPAs andlink those FPAs to category hubs and link those category hubs to a general hub. You hit want to exposed the surfers as many ads as possible while providing as little free content as possible.

that's an interesting idea...
is anyone doing it this way?

Most people already do this. I try to do mine this way.

Pornwolf 03-08-2005 01:38 PM

I wonder how if most sponsors want to have their free hosted galleries to be easily indexable. Something tells me that most don't for various reasons.

Pornwolf 03-08-2005 01:44 PM

Please excuse the semi incoherant last post.

I used to have multiple hubs on multiple sites that are totally different from each other. Normally, a hub won't be that bad, only... why not bother making every availble site/page a hub of each and every other pages/sites? It's only a few lines of code.

HUB = I'm here Mr. Spider.
PAGES = I'm a hub too!
SITES = C'mon!

Thanks for the email link Brian.

Manansala 03-08-2005 06:44 PM

The "few" lines of code requires basic SSI and a few CSS.
