Why are so many Adult webmasters ASHAMED of what they do?
Maybe you are not one of them, but I know that alot of adult webmasters are Ashamed of what they do. They keep it a secret, and are just hoping to make some good money here and then move on to mainstream. Do you guys see something wrong with that kind of thinking?

I don't think were ashamed of what we do, but it's not always a good idea to come right out and say "Hey we are into Porn". Most Webmasters I know have a Mainstream business also. Why would you announce that you do Porn. With today's society trying to blame an Adult Webmaster for "The sky is falling" I don't see why you would come right out an announce to the world what you do in the comfort of your home.
I know there are a lot of young(er) kids on the board here who think its cool and tell everybody. However as you get older you get a little (not much really) bit smarter. Maybe you live in a small town, maybe you have children, maybe your parents are church goers, of just maybe you don't want to be prosecuted for something you personally think is ok. There are many reasons why Adult Webmasters don't go around screaming it from the roof. The Adult Webmaster are able to show off their talent, business sense and individuality at conventions and get-togethers. I hope that answered a bit of your questions. :2 cents: |
fuck the police

It's generally frowned upon from the public...seems shady and many people only think of the bad or controversial part of the industry

I wouldn't say ashamed, but you have to balance it out with da facts.
Unless you are planning on only dating hoes, and strippers, you are going to have a rough go. Luckily I've had my gf for 6 years, so I do not need to worry about the dating scene. But I know in women I have talked to, when you tell them you are a webmaster they are automatically turned off, and say, "porn". Plus what we do as adult webmasters is not something your gf or people want to tell their folks, "so what do you do for a living son?", and you reply, "Well pops, I am in the online porn business". This is why I have a legit company as well as a number of others. So when the internet end comes up, I tell them I own a studio and do internet consulting, and leave it at that. Which is true. I own a production company, and studio, but I try and keep those secondary when talking business outside the office. Last thing I need at the Chamber of Commerce or something is porn coming up, or embarrasement for friends or family. Depending on your social circle, I would not say ashamed is correct. I'd say it's more about discretion. Just my :2 cents: :pimp |
Yeah, hoes love them pornographers :)

in general what steffie said applies to a large number of webmasters, but going down to personal level I dont give a shit what the whole world thinks about it. Why would i care what my church neighbor thinks about me when i dont like him first place? :) Took me few years, still haven't perfected this attitude, but working towards it.
Being proud? Don't know...for sure not ashamed. I can imagine if I was a doctor I would feel more proud. You know besides what physically affects you, the rest of this world is in your head. |

Exactly, I can't think of any circumstances in which communicating what you do for a living could ever work to your advantage. |

It works in the strip clubs is about it. Tell them you do it (atleast around here) and they all want to come and work for you. All have the same story, "we are trying to get out of stripping, and would like to do this instead of that" boo-fucking who's.
I've heard that from every stripper we've talked to. I can't much blame them, but we do not do enough shoots to employ them. Plus we use a model only so many times unless we get some feedback they want more. If they had some sense, they'd actually go start their own sites, and get their good customers from their job to buy memberships, and could prolly still make a decent living. :pimp |
well its kind of hard to conversate at a PTA meeting after discovering that kinda reailty for some folks.

When asked what I do. I usually reply with "I write computer programs". Which I do. Just not the major portion of my money comes from that. And saying that usually stops the conversation from going any further that way ;) I think the women at the bank have caught on though :1orglaugh |
