Not only did it kill my php (no list was showing for several hours) but they were going to take my 404 traffic.

you mean no one has anything to say about this? X-3 guys come in to my server and change my .htaccess file and no one here is bothered by it? maybe this shows how popular they are.

I'm guessing you've never had to deal with anyone form x-3... The only time I got a hold of them in a reasonable amount of time was when I called them. (I tried that today, but I don't think anyone's in the office) all emails or icq's rarely get any response. So I might hear something from them in 2002. I know there are other people on this board using them and I think they should know about this. Tim (of UCJ) would never pull something like this. I think X-3 is on the way out and is trying to make some extra $$ before they go...

Hey Spud, are you saying they didn't even inform you so that you could edit the file? That just doesn't even sound like them at all. Brian is a pretty stand up guy although he's become hard to contact lately. It doesn't seem right that they'd change your 404 without letting you know you should edit it. That's not like them at all.

Does seem kinda strange they would add all that crap without telling anyone though. Like Lamar said Brian was always a stand up guy when I had to talk to him, so this does seem really weird.

I appoligize for this. Part of the patch is htaccess rewrite rules that ban
different types of bots from hitting the script/site. I had one of our
programmers, john install the upgrade and I told him to grab the .htaccess
file we had on one of our sites. He didn't realize the 404 line was in there
and neither did I. Again I am truly sorry this was a mistake on our part and
was not intentional.

We have only installed this patch for 3 people so far. I installed it for the first person and John (our new programmer) installed it on the second two. (you and cumdojo). He made this mistake on both installs. He is now aware of the problem and it won't happen again.

Thank you for returning my email. I guess you are lucky that you only installed it on 3 domains, and I was not so lucky to be one of them. Sorry for raising such a big stink about this but I was not informed that you were going to be accessing anything on my box and for the 3rd time in a row you messed up my site with "AddType text/html .html .htm". That's the one that really gets me. Last day I called the x-3 team stupid..let me explain why. This last week have been the worst ever in my 5 years as a webmaster lots of troubles with hosts, sponsors and when the x-3 team installed a kindof crazy htaccess file on my server I just flipped out.

I have now as always..(if I just take the time to wait a day or 2) Get some explenation on what caused all this x-3 problem.

Ones again im sorry about my hard temper but I hope I will be albe to controll it later on.

I was looking at the 404 at the top. But it's all taken care of now. The X-3 guys fixed it.
