Linux + submitter software?
I just installed linux on my laptop for shits and giggles, and it looks smooth.
However, I have a dilemma. If I leave for say a few weeks to my summer cottage, I wanna still be able to submit galleries and whatnot... Is there A) a way to make advanced submitter work on linux (I doubt it since it's basically IE) b) Is there a software that could use advancedsubmitter db and work like it does on linux? c) Is there ANY submitting software for linux? d) Summer holiday = No submitting? |

At least I remember that someone posted that they did get AS working under Wine. I dont know for sure.

Hey TeenGodFather hit me up on ICQ and I may be able to help. I only run Linux (Ubuntu) and haven't used windows in a couple of years so I know some tricks that may be able to help.

There isn't any linux submitting software that I know of commercially... I have written a combo hand and auto submitter for my own use though, although I never really got around to polishing it. The easiest way to do assisted hand submissions (with auto form filling like AS) is to use firefox, and a frame based system with a hidden top frame loading a javascript to fill the appropriate form field values in the bottom frame.

Yep VMWare, Codeweavers Wine and Wine. When using wine use the sidnet conf file it seems to work best.

Writing submitter for Linux could be very good business imo ;)
I use Wine for running Windows submitters. It works good ;) |
Make your laptop a dual boot system.

Hey gary, send me an email with your icq :) |
http://www.win4lin.com, CrossOver Office or Wine.
If CrossOver or Wine do not work try win4lin you basically run windows from your linux os. Works on most distros (RPM's & Debs.) Andy |
