Risk of getting banned if changing hosts
As you all know some TGPs ban people if the HTML is changed after it has been submitted.
So if you are switching hosts, and you copy everything from your old server to your new server, switch the nameservers. Will everything be exactly as before or no? Even if you have a CGI counter? How do TGPs track if pages are changed? check filesizes or check date last modified? I think the changes of last modified will be different on the new host then as on the previous host. |
Just change the host and don't worry about it. You aren't modifying the html so there should be no problem. If they ban you for changing hosts then they don't really want to do business with you and you can do without them.

check ur stats to see who is sending hits
msg/email/icq them that ur changing host and provide urls setup ur other host and mirror the content change ur nameserver to point to new host. (maybe late at nite since least amount of traffic?) |
they probably some sort of hash like md5 or sha1 since last modified and the file size are trivial things to get past.

|
ive changed hosts, never had a problem.

riosluts ... hit me up on ICQ 44-33-144 I have helped people change more hosts than almost (Lostmind) anybody else here I can give you the in's and out's of it.
|
I doubt anyone will ban you for changing hosts unless of course you experience downtime in the process. However if you're really concerned you can always email your TGP's and give them a heads up. I'm sure they will understand and/or alert you to any areas of concern.
