Anyone using Wordpress 1.5?
Just noticed that Wordpress 1.5 inserts a "nofollow" tag on comments and trackbacks made to blogs with this latest upgrade.
If you use this release, are you able to disable the "nofollow" tag, and if so, how do you go about doing that? Thanks in advance. |
would like to know that answer to this also
|
I think that Mike Hawk uses that on our blog too i will point him to this thread too.

YARGH! all the blogs be blockin' comment spam. Google started it, most have signed up to include the tag. You might need to revert to an older version, or be hackin' the php code. Good luck with it, and post it if ye be breakin' it
YARGH! Ahoy me hearties! |
Didnt notice that.
Would like to know as well. |

i just downloaded it, haven't used it yet... i wrote my own brief CMS for automatically creating my articles (creates the page, optimizes it for SEO, and sets up the RSS) - and i want to make it automatically post to my blog, instead of having to switch over to the wordpress admin area everytime i write a set of articles... we'll see how it turns out :)

Well, maybe the new releases are, but I would hope that Wordpress would make it an option, possibly a default setting, but there is no way it should be mandatory. BTW, my release does not have the 'nofollow' tag, it is for someone else. They may have to revert back to 1.2 |

Thanks . . . :thumbsup |
You should have nofollow on comments... there is no reason to make your comments count. It just encourages crap spammers

If you do not understand the value of comments or trackbacks then I suggest you do some reading. |
Question. Isn't google penalizing for trackbacks now? and the way to stop that is to use nofollow tags? Then what is the benefit of trackbacks? I don't quite understand.

This is news to me if they are penalizing. The only thing the nofollow tag does is not give credit to the person making the comment. The blog receiving the comment/trackback is still benefiting from the additional activity. |
Actually I think I may have been wrong, I think they were frowning upon people spamming urls in the comments section.
I'm goina hit you up on ICQ tomorrow if you don't mind so we can do a link exchange. You up for that? |
|
Thanks Chico :)
