Do you call it a scam?
Person a (some GFYer) sells to person B (myself) domain name. Person B got tha domain, that expired 2 weeks ago, and cannot change dns nor refer it to his server, unless he renew the domain.

not a scam, but he should warn you. But then again, if the name is good, then you probably will renew it for a few years anyway
