Well this sounds "smart":

Nice. A chick working for a communist newspaper just handed over $1 million to a bunch of fucking terrorists.

Seems to me like the driver was unable to following fucking directions and got shot. If your unable to follow directions here stateside while driving you get a ticket. If your unable to follow directions outside the Bagdad airport - you get fucking shot.

I guess it has not occured to anyone that she could have easily been prevented from leaving the country at Customs and/or Passport control. All of her equipment could have easily been confiscated and shooting at her and her vehicle does not really solve the problem she claims they were out to solve.

HER initial claim is that the US military was TRYING TO ASSASSINATE her. We can discuss all day that Bush is wrong, war in Iraq is wrong etc etc etc... and I would probably agree with most... but the claim that they open fired on the car to kill her, is stupid. If they wanted to kill her, she would be dead as would be all occupants in the car. If they were trying to kill her because she had some compromising materials on the US Military, people are forgetting that she still needs permission of the US to leave the country and must go through Customs and Passport control and there is ample opportunity to search them, their bags and seize anything they want without opening fire on a car in travel and killing its foreign occupants. Thats just a dumb thing to suggest... and even dumber to believe.

Instead, one guy in the car was shot by 1 stray bullet while she and 3 passengers are fine. How does a group of Marines you fire into a car at close range with automatic weapons with the intention of killing the occupants and miraculously miss everyone with the exception of 1 shot? Can't happen.

Meanwhile, their tiny, unknown italian communist newspaper is enjoying more exposure in a few days than it would have in the next 50 years... I am sure they regret that as well.

A more likely scenario is , the terrorists quickly realised this chick hated bush as much as they did, and told her " look just give us a "donation" in the form of a RANSOM so we can buy more car-bombs/weapons to kill americans , we will let you go as long as you promise to trash the u.s.a. every chance you get. She got lucky and her driver ran a checkpoint resulting in them being detained ( in an EXTREMELY NON-VIOLENT way )

Lets be realistic here. A checkpoint has some BIG guns. I would think these marines showed alot of restraint to only have killed one person with one shot to the temple, when an unknown vehicle tries to drive thru your checkpoint.

The checkpoint was on an EXTREMELY high risk area, with MANY suicide bombers already targetting the SAME AREA

There is a nuclear power plant forty miles from my house. I'm pretty damn sure that if I was to drive up the front gate at 50mph and not follow directions I would be shot too.

I got pulled over last month doing 110MPH. By the time I pulled over to the side of the freeway there were a total of three cop cars behind me. And they came up to me with their hands on their guns too.

This isn't a fucking joke. It's not driving down main street where the worst thing that can happen is you have a fender bender. Your coming up on a military checkpoint with armed MARINES. These Marines don't know if your an Italian reporter or a fucking car bomb coming at them. You don't follow directions when someone is pointing a damn machine gun at you - you get shot. It's that simple.

the problem is that when they spend half of that million, they are going to go out and get 5 more hostages to make some more money.

People can talk, but if you where standing there and they where driving at you fullspeed and ingnoring instructions to slow down I bet you'd value your life more than whoever was in the car. Any sane person would open fire to protect themselves.
