About to secure the mansion a bit .. any thought on wireless ip cams?

Night vision?

Can i mount these outside? How are they powered?

There is ton of stuff out there. How big is your budget. It's an emerging market. Recomend a mesh network. Yes, many come with auto night vison. Prices are falling too, but still a little expensive to do it right.

Yes you can mount everything outside. There is a brand comming with solar panels and storage batteries as a package. That means no wires at all! Just the box with antenna. Communication then is made to a base station connected in a building with attachment to DSL/T1/Cable or whatever to the net.

The unit I'm thinking of would have four connections for cams.. If you are ultra serious, ICQ.

I had one in a former clients office for security and it worked very well - after we worked out a few bugs. You have to make a few adjustments to your Java VM to avoid frames dropping, etc. but overall, very good.
