Anyone of you people own a Hummer H2 ? I'd like some input
Hey,
Just back from the geneva auto show and while the H2 is nothing new (the H3 looks pretty pretty hot, but only out in Sept over here and significantly smaller), I actually took time to look at an H2 in detail and was pretty impressed. The interior not as bad as I expected and actually quite comfortable... and of course the incredible exterior looks and solid build... The only minor point being that the speed of this think if limited to 150km/h and the guy in charge gave me the impression that driving 140km/h was already pushing it ;) Im sure some of you guys have one and I would love to hear your input. Especially regarding speed, the ability to overtake, is it comfortable while driving and also is there any excessive noise when driving? Thanks! |
I took one for a test drive. Too wide a ride for me. Visibility sucks too.
|
Moose has one. I'll send him this thread. I know he takes it to the desert often for off-road riding.

Dumb purchase decision. |
this seems to go quite well with the above picture

yes stability seems to be another problem
my personal fav is the Range Rover which I can tell you from personal experience to be extremely tough. Unlike most of the competition the Land Rovers are solid at the core and they can handle shocks very well (usually the other car gets the damage ;) ) I would have expected the Hummer to be like that, if its not then its really a joke. |

I love mine! I'll be an H2 owner as long as they continue to make them. BTW, this thread is sure to bring out all the "H2 haters" so don't listen to the crap spewing from their keyboards. They probably drive Ford Pintos and have never even rode in an H2. I've yet to hear an owner (or previous owner) of an H2 have any major complaints with it. Anyway, to answer your questions. - They are very comfortable, especially for long range trips. - As far as the top speed, I couldn't tell you. I don't think people really buy H2's for street racing. - Overtaking other cars isn't a problem considering the 316HP 6 Liter V8. - Definitely no excessive noise for an SUV. |
From my research, the only thing the Hummer H2 is good for is being an attention whore. It's all style and no substance. People buy it because they want to be seen driving it. They use it to drive around the city, and the most off-road action the vehicle will ever see will be when they accidentally drive up on the curb when parallel parking because they can't see shit around them.
It's sad to think about what the H2 could have been vs. what it has become. I look at H2 owners as being rather pathetic insecure people who are desperate for recognition. I've also noticed a high percentage of wiggers drive H2s, coincidence? I think not. All the H2 lovers may begin flaming me now. |

I'm looking into a nice H2 SUT right now actually - so far, I love it - good test drives with it. I'm just contemplating how easy it's going to be to drive in Atlanta when I move there in Q3
|
H2s are for tools. Seriously. What a butt fucking ugly vehicle. Only for the rock hard stupid on this planet.
|
|
MrPheer has one as well if I am not mistaken. He may chime in.
|
only fat fuckers should need a car that big
|
Jake, nice one you have, I love that color. They were presenting the H3 in a red very similar to that. The H2 they had was yellow which is also a nice one.
Brisk, I dont quite agree with the "attention whore" thing. Maybe for some buyers, but not all. Of course the Hummer gets lots of attention, but isn't that the case with any significant car? If you look at whats on the market right now in that category, apart from the Range Rover I cant see any other car stand out. They pretty much all look the same, with no personality. As much as the BMW X5, Mercedes ML300, Lexus RX330, may be "good cars" (the ML has tons of probs actually) does either of them stand out? You could mix a Nissan Murano in there and you could hardly tell which is which. On the higher end of the spectrum, you got the Porsche Cayenne (which costs 20-50% more than a H2), which is great to drive and while I tend to think they did a pretty good job design wise, its still not significantly different than the previously mentioned lineup. BTW the Range Rover Sport that they just launched it hummm nice and tight.. a very cool looking car although slightly smaller that its bigger brother. Another one which I earmarked is the Cadillac Escalade. A little conservative, but at least with some personality. |
Most of us who are former military are laughing our assess of right now. We drove hummers around every day of our lives and thought it was nothing more than the basic jeep. While the version you guys buy are much nicer, we still don't get it. It's all for show - unless your going four wheeling, get a fucking explorer or something.
And don't get me started on the Cadilac SUVs. That's another joke too. |
I would imagine the top speed is electronically governed. My GM truck is also limited to 160 km/h because that is the speed rating of the "all terrain" tires.
You can buy a programmer to remove this limit, but since the tires aren't designed to be safe over that speed, it would be a stupid thing to do. |

how many people buy a truck and then never use the bed. How many people by a 4x4 and never take it off road... how many people buy a low ridding car and take it off road lol. most people by vehicles for other reasons then what they are intended for. |

Also, if I was an attention whore, I'd probably start multiple threads a day. Unfortunately, I'd say I only start about 2 or 3 threads a week maybe. Nice try at striking back because you're hurt because there is some truth in what I posted. |

First off only fucking tools would judge a person by the vehicle they drive. And only fucking tools would hate a car ??? WTF is up with that, did a Hummer molest you when you were a child or did you mother leave your daddy for one, or possibly do you really like them and you are jealious ? Let's see how much of an ass we can make ourselves and hate people because of what they drive or for that matter hate a car ? Don't get all green peace on my either and talk about how much gass it uses, it only burns about 2 -3 more mpg then most big suvs like suburbans, etc. |
Is this shit true? If it is, then lots of you rich fuckers should buy one.
:1orglaugh From: http://www.fuh2.com/ The H2 is a tax loophole. Under Bush's new tax plan, business owners can deduct the entire cost of their $55,000 H2. If you are in the highest tax bracket, that's a tax savings of nearly $20,000! The government rewards you more savings for buying an H2 than you'd get for buying an electric car. |
nevermind the haters, they can't afford to fill up the tank in an h2 let alone pay the sticker price
the h2 is a party truck, worth its weight in gold if you are into having a good time, FACT bitches love hummers |

Well lets see who the bigger whore is.. someone who post about nothing on GFY or somene who owns a hummer and uses it to towing trailers and my boat ( i guess i am whore because i have a boat). and i also have magnets i put on the side to advertise on it, being that it gets some looks from people that was one of the reasons i bought it, for advertising. and then tax write the whole thing off and i come out spending as much on it as i would for f150. to assume everyone is an attention whore that drives one is an ignorant statement. How many card over 50K don't get attention... I guess i am not an attention whore if I go by a corvette z51 ?? idiots... |

The Hummer is nice, i like it because it is stronge and it can resist a lot, but like the titanic, the hummer can sink also :Oh crap :bowdown

Another one of my neighbors bought one in the last month. I now have FOUR of these things surrounding me. Sometimes when I'm bored, I pretend I'm GI Jane and I live on a military base.

good car, take a test ride

I kept my H1 for three weeks, kept my Avalanche for 6 months. I've been really bored with cars & trucks for the past few years. Although I did keep my C5 vette and BMW for 2 years each, nothing thats out right now really grabs my attention. The 4x4 that I have now sits in the driveway, gets driven maybe 2 or 3 times a week, and I fill up the tank about once every six weeks. I have three motorcycles sitting in the garage, and they hardly ever get used either. My wife drives a '05 Toyota Sienna minivan, its their top of line model, all leather and that bullshit. Its pretty nice, and usually if I go anywhere, I ride with her & the kidlet. I figured out a while back that since I work at home, I dont really have a need for a $60k vehicle for myself. I do however, like looking at my bank account thats holding the money that I normaly would have spent on sports cars and airplanes and shit when I was a few years younger. So my opinion on the H2: Its vey nice, and its a waste of money (just like most other vehicles) Buy a used one if you really must have one. |
I would buy 1 if I had the $$...
