whats a good city in cali / florida?

I want to get the hell out of this state for a year or two.

I'm looking for a city with a low crime rate

Doesn't have to be too large atlest 200,000 people or so

I don't want to move into one of the larger ones

Needs to be by the ocean

Rebecca Love 03-06-2005 10:00 AM

Sunshine State

panama beach fl, or anywhere on the North coast of Florida. The beaches are amazing there. :thumbsup

In Cali I like Huntington Beach and Newport Beach.

We're in the Tampa area, but if you're looking for nicer beaches head to the Ft. Lauderdale area.

Florida and Alabama have wonderful cities by the ocean. You don't want to move to CA . . . God I hate when people call it "Cali"

Shut up . . . Galveston, TX is a much better idea.

CA is not safe

Alex 03-06-2005 11:27 AM

The valley.
The 'burbs of L.A

Anything north of Rinaldi or South of Ventura is nice.

There are two bullet holes in my front door and 3 in my car when I woke up this morning . . . just another day in SoCal

if you want to sit in 15 hours of traffic pick the LA area. Cali is overpriced, you'll enjoy Florida better. Anywhere near Miami and you'll have warm weather all year round.

15 minutes on the freeway at 3 AM maybe

You will find San Jose is nice especially just outside of it in say Los Gatos or Los Altos. Takes about 30 mins to get to Santa Cruz from here and you can get to SF in about 45 mins. San Jose might be to big for you though. Population is 1,000,000+ and is now a bigger city than SF. 10th largest in the US I think but has been rated the safest city in the US for a number of years.

Advantages for San Jose:

1. If you HP takes a crap you can go beat on their door.
2. Want a better Yahoo PR? Get to know some of their employees. LOL.
3. You are 10 minutes from Google.
4. Weekend in Carmel/Pebble Beach.
5. All the Asian chicks you could ever want as well as some Cali Babes.
6. Wow, this list could get long so I'll end it here.

Economic concerns? FL is cheaper to live in than CA and there is also no personal state income tax in FL. No tax on groceries either. If you happen to go bankrupt in FL by law they cannot take your house and sell it to pay off debts unless of course you owe the mortgage company as they can foreclose.

I lived in the WPB area for 10 years. It is nice but too hot and humid in the summer. If I went back I'd live on the Gulf Coast in the Sarasota Area. Long Boat Key is beautiful.

Hope that helps!

PS Pensacola to Panama City has a cute nickname - The Redneck Riviera!! LOL

Yeah, my sister lives in LA. She is about 20 miles from LAX. Took her 3 hours to get home from the airport one day. Gotta love LA traffic!! :thumbsup

Warm weather all year round in FL? That is a mild statement. Try hot, humid weather in the Spring and Fall and very hot, humid weather in the Summer. Winters are nice and cool. Cool being 70s most of the time. Lots of bugs in FL too - the kind that bite - and if reptiles freak you out you will not like FL but chasing lizzards was fun to the dog.
