I'm building a new system for light video editing, and video encoding, dvd ripping and burning and general purpose usage. Let me know what you think

I set the budget at $1500 and just made it, but I am getting another 19" next month so I can run a dual setup.

i'd stay away from a WD HD tho... they don't sell Maxtor?

Are you kidding? WD will outlast any maxtor.. Take it from me Ive been running hosts since 1994 and Ive seen what fails and what does not. ;)

then i must have just had a WD lemon, i had to have it swapped out under warranty after 18 months about 2 years ago

WD is the only company making 10k sata drives they outperform any sata drive out there they are nothing but scsi drives with a sata plug on them dont even try comparing them to the cheap ass WD drives that failed on you.

so they do make shitty HDs then as well? LOL

IBM makes good scsi drives but fucked up so bad on thier ata drives they sold the whole division out of embasessment :)

they dont make a 10k RPM maxtor in SATA. WD puts a 5 year warranty on the raptors and I havent heard any complaints about them so far.

Looks good. Good choice on the hard drives, Raptor as boot and the other one as storage :thumbsup WD and Seagate rocks.
