Manually approve affiliates who signup to promote my site?

I have a small single girl paysite now, but am opening a much larger single girl paysite soon, and I would like to allow affiliates to promote it.

Alot of big programs manually approve affiliates after they signup, but many large programs DO NOT manually approve them. So I am wondering, what is the best method?

What do you think is the best method for a big program and for a small program?

auto for both

I hate waiting.
Unless you want to keep it exclusive and know who is pushing traffic and from where, go auto.

Don't go auto (first time with affiliates), just make sure you don't keep them waiting too long.

well, this is a nice enough single girl site that I think we would be getting alot of affiliates pushing us. So what im trying to figure out is if the amount of potential fraud warrants making affiliates wait a few hours before they can log in?

I dont want to piss potential affiliates off, but trying to find that thin line that would also prevent as much fraud as possible. What do you guys think?

Manual, cuts down on alot of BS and problems. If you get a webmaster from a country your not sure of, ask for references from another sponsor before approving, you will love yourself later.

i like it to be auto. if i'm going to signup to promote something i usuaully want to get the links up ASAP. and it just annoys me to no end waiting for replies.

especially if you take weekends off or take a vacation.

depends on how dependant you are on affiliates. a lot of sites that dont really need affiliates have it invite only. the reason they would do that or have to approve them is to control fraud.

Rorschach 03-04-2005 07:25 PM

i much prefer auto

AsylumN 03-04-2005 11:28 PM

good answers so far. Keep them coming guys

leave it at auto, then ban them the next day if necessary... that's what we do

So you would recommend doing a manual approval process? I am mainly concerned about fraud.

mardigras 03-06-2005 02:33 PM

Most people want to do stuff "right now". Unless you have something worth making them wait for others are going to serve your niche, you should consider allowing auto with editor's moderation afterwards. :2 cents:

pornguy 03-06-2005 02:35 PM

Usually I will sign up for a site, because I have a need for that girls look. Or that niche. It is usually a need that has to be filled right away. Now I am on Pacific time, and if I have to wait for you to get up on EST time, I may have missed the chance to make some cash. So I will look for someone that has instant sign up, instead of you.

Okay, I wonder how many others out there share that same viewpoint?

perfectodollars-gabrio 03-06-2005 04:52 PM

we do manually approve webmasters because of security and other issues. once we check the webmaster/website, then they are approved usually very fast.

Claude 03-06-2005 04:56 PM

I have signed up for many programs find out that they were going to manually approve me, and 99% of the time I end up not using them. I move on and find someone else. If I sign up, itīs because Iīm doing something where I need linkcodes and content right away, not the next day or 8 hours later.

As someone said, make it auto and the review the revsharer once you have time for it. If you donīt want him, dump him then.

hydro 03-07-2005 01:40 AM

auto for sure, if im joining an affiliate program its because i thought thier sites looked good and would probably convert. If you made me wait a day or 2 i'd probably move on to another sponsor who would have accounts setup instantly.

AsylumN 03-07-2005 11:53 AM

This is sounding like the best way is to approve on auto and then figure out if the affiliate is legit or not.

AsylumN 03-07-2005 03:27 PM

I was thinking about putting international webmasters on manual, and the rest on auto.
