The fact is : there is still a big % that use 800x600.. so we still need to design websites for those.

These are my stats for this month so far:
1024x768 222363 48.13% 800x600 161079 34.86% 1280x1024 36456 7.89% 1152x864 21439 4.64% Other 8321 1.80% 640x480 7291 1.57% 1600x1200 5001 1.08% 800x600 still plays a big role as you can see. |
And operating systems:
Windows 98 220518 42.28% Windows XP 176330 33.81% Windows 2000 60876 11.67% Macintosh 22278 4.27% Windows 95 16485 3.16% Other 10673 2.04% Windows NT 8085 1.55% Linux 2 2992 0.57% WebTV 1231 0.23% Windows ME 1177 0.22% SunOS 5 232 0.04% Windows 3.1 221 0.04% OS/2 110 0.02% FreeBSD 96 0.01% IRIX 59 0.01% Amiga 26 0.00% HP-UX 23 0.00% AIX 19 0.00% OSF1 19 0.00% Acorn 6 0.00% SunOS 4 2 0.00% |
One item that would be interesting is if you could break those out a little more.
E.G. What are the screen resolutions for people running Win2k/XP versus the ones running Win 98/ME. (My guess is it's a big difference) Other one would be what is the operating system breakdown by continent. I know Euro's are still big-time into Win 9x systems (the numbers you had surprised the hell out of me) So for instance if my target is US users maybe the metrics are far different than Euros. |
