jukeboxfrank 03-04-2005 07:43 AM

mardigras 03-04-2005 11:03 AM

That's worse than what I heard on the radio earlier, they were saying 10 cents/gallon increase. As long as the dollar value keeps decreasing gas prices will push what they think the market can support.

Bansheelinks 03-04-2005 08:34 PM

it fucking sucks the big one

Spunky 03-04-2005 08:35 PM

It's approx 95 cents per litre here...so about 4 bucks a gallon

After Shock Media 03-04-2005 08:35 PM

iwantchixx 03-04-2005 08:40 PM

ArikaAmes 03-04-2005 08:42 PM

Yea that is nuts. The gas here shot up 30 cents to 2.09 and is supposed to rise the other .25 cents in the next two days :(

Nicky 03-04-2005 08:43 PM

media 03-04-2005 09:10 PM

I have the solution for all of you that cannot afford gas prices..

http://www.goped.com my friend Tim owns the company, tell him Media sent you... I reccomend the Super X Ped.. You can get em to go up to about 45mph =)

rickholio 03-04-2005 10:42 PM

Yeesh, all you friggin whiners out there complaining about gas prices.

First off, half of the price increase you're seeing is a result of the USD tanking so badly over the last 2 years. You can't lose 25% of a currency's value and expect all your prices to stay static, eventually they're going to have to raise because your paper has become worth less (not worthless). The other half of the price increase is due to a combination of factors, primarily worry about unrest in the middle east and south america, and an alleged inability from traditionally hardcore producers to keep up with global output demands.

Secondly, Gas is by no means the most expensive its ever been by a long shot. Check out the price of gas in inflation-adjusted dollars:

So it's not a 'sky is falling' scenario... but if you're really REALLY concerned about it, all you have to do is end all the wars, increase the value of the greenback and find more easily extracted oil reserves. Simple huh? :thumbsup

I saw something on one of the educational channels regarding gasoline prices in the United States and what affects them. I was surprised to learn that it's state and local regulations concerning fuel additives and emission standards, as well as taxes, that account for the significant price differences in different parts of the US. California, for instance, is about 30 cents higher than the national average right now.

Also, as to prices in the European nations, can anyone inform me as to what makes gasoline so expensive in your countries?

:1orglaugh Make that 30 years, there's too much to be made in oil :2 cents:

I love this -- Willie Nelson gets greased. Conservative that I am, I am aware that the surface of the alternative fuels issue has only been scratched.

Also, there is something called Nuclear Half-life Modification Technology which I know NOTHING about, but seems to be a way of nullifying radioactivity in spent fuel. Could this be part of the solution for making nuclear energy safe?

How about hydrogen fuel cells for vehicles? Hydrogen can be safe.

I had a professor in college who claimed to have been paid off for a patent on photovoltaic roofing shingles by a consortium of energy companies.

I better shut up -- "the man" may be reading this :pimp

borked 03-05-2005 12:19 AM

Kyoto treaty anyone?

SuckOnThis 03-05-2005 12:35 AM

Can't you people figure any of this out? Here we have a president whose family ties in the oil industry go back half a century, the fucks in his administration own hundreds of thousands shares of stocks in oil companies and there's your answer. There's a reason Bush won't unleash the countries oil reserves. Another ass fucking by Bush.

4Pics 03-05-2005 12:39 AM

It'd be nice if in the usa we had better mass transportation, but they don't seem to want to build it here like it is elsewhere.

So true. When the situation starts to become critical then they will start rolling out alternatives.

Too bad Bush doesn't take the same attitude with this as "fixing SS before there is a crisis".
