Write A Zombie Story = You're A Terrorist!

http://www.lex18.com/Global/story.asp?S=2989614

A George Rogers Clark High School junior arrested Tuesday for making terrorist threats told LEX 18 News Thursday that the "writings" that got him arrested are being taken out of context.

Winchester police say William Poole, 18, was taken into custody Tuesday morning. Investigators say they discovered materials at Poole's home that outline possible acts of violence aimed at students, teachers, and police.

Poole told LEX 18 that the whole incident is a big misunderstanding. He claims that what his grandparents found in his journal and turned into police was a short story he wrote for English class.

"My story is based on fiction," said Poole, who faces a second-degree felony terrorist threatening charge. "It's a fake story. I made it up. I've been working on one of my short stories, (and) the short story they found was about zombies. Yes, it did say a high school. It was about a high school over ran by zombies."

Even so, police say the nature of the story makes it a felony. "Anytime you make any threat or possess matter involving a school or function it's a felony in the state of Kentucky," said Winchester Police detective Steven Caudill.

Poole disputes that he was threatening anyone.

"It didn't mention nobody who lives in Clark County, didn't mention (George Rogers Clark High School), didn't mention no principal or cops, nothing,"
said Poole. "Half the people at high school know me. They know I'm not that stupid, that crazy."

On Thursday, a judge raised Poole's bond from one to five thousand dollars after prosecutors requested it, citing the seriousness of the charge.

Poole is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.

What the fuck is wrong with this country? Are we really a bunch of fucking pussies after 9/11? Is there any way we can force Kentucky to secede?

SykkBoy 03-03-2005 08:11 PM

I bet from now on, the kid only writes stories about puppy dogs and rainbows

sickkittens 03-03-2005 08:16 PM

Didn't this happen several times right after 9/11?

jacked 03-03-2005 08:16 PM

thats bullshit the charges will be dropped unless they'res more to it than what was said in that story...

how does writing a story about zombies taking over a school put you in a position to be charged with a second degree terrorist charge...

THANKS GEORGE BUSH FOR RUINING OUR LIVES!

Kristian 03-03-2005 08:18 PM

Starting to see to many stories like this.

SykkBoy 03-03-2005 08:24 PM

I remember writing stories about zombies, mummies, etc. when I was in gradeschool for fuck's sake...

in high school, I even wrote a story about a serial killer on the loose in a theme park...I'm so glad that was in the 80's before Columbine, 9/11 and knee jerk reactions...

Do you know anything about the US political system? One of the roles of President is Chief Legislator. While it is only congress who has the power to make laws, the President is able to influence lawmaking. Presidents may urge Congress to pass new laws or veto bills that they do not favor.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the police - usually - adhere to the upkeep of law?

gh0st 03-03-2005 09:49 PM

His grandparents, the police & the american government = Idiots

dready 03-03-2005 09:53 PM

Lock him up and throw away the key.. .fucking commie terrorists. I'd shoot the fucking piece of shit if I had him in my sites.

dirtyone 03-03-2005 09:56 PM

This has nothing to do with George Bush or ?Terrorists? in the sense most of you are thinking about.

Laws governing Terrorist threats have been around long before Bush and 9/11.

http://americandefenseleague.com/terordef.htm

Terroristic threats. A person is guilty of a felony if he threatens to commit any crime of violence with purpose to terrorize another or to cause evacuation of a building, place of assembly, or facility of public transportation, or otherwise to cause serious public inconvenience, or in reckless disregard of the risk of causing such terror or inconvenience. 18 U.S.C.A. § 3077; Model Penal Code, § 211.3. See also Terrorism.

Threat:
1. An expression of an intention to inflict pain, injury, evil, or punishment.
2. An indication of impending danger or harm.
3. One that is regarded as a possible danger; a menace.

If a diary/journal is meant to be private and personal, how can it express any intent?

Kard63 03-03-2005 10:02 PM

His foolish redneck scum grandparents should be euthanized.

I'm not arguing his guilt or innocence. Personaly I think it's kind of stupid myself. I was mereley pointing out that his arreast has nothing to do with...

1) George Bush... as quite a few seem to think

2) Terrorist (in the sense that most people think since 9/11).. as the original poster would have you believe.

3) That laws dealing with this sort of thing have been around for a long time... this is nothing new.

Darkland 03-03-2005 11:48 PM

I think it was said by George Carlin and it holds true. This country has been sliding into pussification since the early 90's. The biggest problem in this country is people holding everyone else accountable except themselves for their actions. Just my opinion though.

I agree it's nothing to do with Bush, but it is part of a kneejerk reaction to all of this terror fear.

Well, sure, he didn't wear a turban or praise allah, but he's still being branded as a terrorist.

While the laws have been around, they haven't been enforced and no one cared about them until after 9/11.

This was nothing more than a kneejerk reaction caused by people being afraid of the taliban boogeyman.

Since this happened in Kentucky, I would assume this kid was singled out more because he was probably one of those type of kids who don't fit in (rightwing nutcases don't like people who don't fit in). I would assume maybe he was one of those heathen goths or gasp..had piercings, maybe even tattooes...

This kind of thing never would have happened without all of the "you're with us or you're with the terrorists" bullshit..existing law or not...

jamesonxx 03-04-2005 01:18 AM

Interesting story.
