Best wishes on a speedy recovery. I had mine out a few years ago, and the new procedures allows you to get moving around pretty quickly.

My mom had hers out last July and it was a lot easier than both of us expected. They didn't even cut her open. They made a little incision in her belly button, stuck the endoscope thing in and pulled it out through the hole/tube. She was up and around in one day.

That's the way they did mine, with 4 little 1/2-inch incisions.
