OK my COURTESY car got stolen....
I was driving the car, whatever, I parked, went to a strip club with my friends for a bit and when trying to start the car (Chrysler 300C) the fucken welfare key broke off... So its 2am at night, I start the car cuz the key inside the ignition still starts the car but I have the other half in my pocket. (the big plastic part with all the buttons)
I figure the safest place to park it is my apartmentm, so I go back to my apartment, which has secure underground parking, I lock up the car, and go home. There is surveillance cameras at every exit, and you need a little swiper to open the gates. I wake up today, ready to go to my office, and the car is gone... Am I to blame? |
Call police before you post here

hope you got the optional insurance...

On second thought it might be one of your friends fucking with you

Just fill out the alpha d's as best and descriptive as possible. Let the police know everything as well as how the system works in your parking area. From that alone it seems to be someone in the inside or someone that has a friend on the inside. =) |
OK well I also happen to live in Surrey B.C (sub section of Vancouver), which is the car theft capital of North America. So they are used to this type of shit. I just dont wanna get blamed for this fucken shit.

im sure there wont be much recourse unless they think you had something to do with it
|
Well I have proof that I was at home. Rented a porn and a movie when I got home off the PPV. And also they have cameras of every exit, So if the car goes in and the car goes out and then hours later they see me go out without the car going back in then its proof enough.
And why would I wanna fuck myself over by stealing my courtesy car. My benz is in the shop for a few weeks now and this was my only source of transportation. |
Most newer courtesy cars have GPS tracking on them, definitely call your dealer and report it asap. Assuming you had the other half of the key with you, I doubt your liable for the theft. Its not like you left the keys in the car. Isn't there an ignition interlock in the other part of the key as well?

I don't think you're any more responsible than if the broken key hadn't been in the ignition. (That level of responsibilty depends mainly on your insurance, and your agreement with the provider of the courtesy car.) If you'd left it unlocked on the street like that, perhaps it could be argued you were grossly negligent, but since you locked it inside of a secured, monitored parking garage, I'm sure you're fine. The surveillance tapes will help corroborate your story, and I assume with the timeline can be used to find whose security card was swiped to get out of the garage.
