Nikon D70, help?

Seems our hot shoe isn't working suddenly. Does anyone know a quick way to troubleshoot this? Nikon are looking at 4-6 weeks turnaround just to look at it, I'd rather not go without a camera for that long. Thanks.

Did you check what mode it's in in the menu? I don't know much about ours yet, but I do know when a friend of mine used his flash on mine he had to change something in the setup menu.

I just plugged my flash sync cord into the accessory shoe adaptor, which goes on the accessory shoe and it worked fine.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

My hot shoe is working fine so far.. could you take it to a local camera shop maybe for a quick look? Don't let them play with it, just give advice?

Have you checked the hotshoe and/or cable on another camera?

Tried another hotshoe adapter, tried both adapters on another camera. The slave cable works fine on other cameras (So do the adapters).

a few things to check offhand.

1. make sure flash is seated fulling back into the stop
2. clean contacts on both flash head and camera with pencil eraser
3. the flash contact should have the ability to fire regardless of camera setting---(it should be able to trigger a strobe or infrared accessory and not have to be on "flash" setting)
4. substitute different flash strobes
5. check if wired flash will work

if all this fails i think it's a malfunction in camera and a warranty repair.
