I need a kickass packet sniffer app

Iris is decent, etherdetect is bad, ethereal is too bloated and hard to use
Are there ones available where it can show u packets sent/received for a specific program?

I had an awesome one before but i forgot its name..

ethereal is hard to use ?

Myst 03-03-2005 12:56 AM

its hard to follow 'conversations' between 2 connections

if u 'follow tcp stream' it goes and fucks everything up, it automatically makes a stupid filter.. so u constantly have to reset filter, look thru all the packets, and if u happen to follow the wrong one, back to square 1

it doesnt filter by program either, and its bloated, and slow, cant remember settings, etcetcetc. highly overrated app

filter it by ip. if your trying to track a program.

over rated, yet you cannot use google or some other search engine of your choice to do some research?

"overrated"... :1orglaugh

It does a pretty damn good job of making the most powerful sniffer available (tcpdump) accessible to the average user...

still, if you follow tcp stream, your filter gets replaced by theirs, and you have to back to readding your filter, and searching thru the packets again

and yes, its overrated
iris and sniffem are both magnitudes better than ethereal.. but there was this one sniffer that was absolutely amazing that i had before i moved (and i cant remember its name)

Ethereal is everything I've ever needed... it's a beautiful thing :)

ethereal is tedious
