I believe it's someone who likes a band, follows them, and is a step away from being a roadie (i.e. always around). If you are always around, and people get to know who you are, I'd say it's a matter of time before you meet the band, and fuck em.

My girlfriend is completely COMPLETELY losing control right this second over me calling her a groupie. Yelling, screaming... etc.

She likes to go back and forth between here and LA to see these bands. She's really into the BackStreetBoys, and others, to a completely obsessed degree. It really gets on my nerves to hear her talking to the television and say things like "oh, there's Jessie! Ahh, and there's Marc!". And then when she yells and screams, I ask her what she's screaming about... and she says I must have problems showing emotion.

So I called her a groupie tonight, and she burst into tears, yelling and screaming, saying the only definition is to imply sleeping with band members. But to the best of my knowledge and research, the only thing it means is to follow the bands around. She sure as hell does that, most definitely.

So do ya think she's a groupie?

A groupie provides sexual favors to band members and sometimes crew. They do not "follow" the band necessarily, though some do. This is not welcome by bands (unless she has been brought into the inner circle as a band members "tour girlfriend") because then she is no longer a groupie, she's a stalker. Usually groupies just stay in their own city and see whoever comes through.

I don't think groupie automatically means sexual. I have heard male fans who follow bands around (not having sex with them

) refered to as groupies.

Groupie means "Slut willing to do anything for a band member and sometimes sexual favors" I was watching TV and they imply groupies to females that follow NBA stars around, games, after parties, become the Team's whore that gets passed around.
