Porn production : HDTV camera - should we buy this?

We're about to produce some amateur hardcore sites .. and we're thinking about instead of buying these couples a "old-fashioned" video camera and a digital camerea, we would buy a HDTV camera.

Will the stills from a HDTV camera be good enough (with the correct light and all) to be used as "pictures" (read : not looking as just video caps)

Anyone with any experience in this?

If the answer is "Yeah, go for HDTV" .. which cameras rocks?

biskoppen 03-02-2005 02:29 AM

Let me add that the plan is not to have the videos on the website in HDTV format.. the plan is using HDTV so we can use any frame as a good looking still picture

bigdog 03-02-2005 02:32 AM

does anyone know if perfectgonzo shoots in HD?

DutchTeenCash 03-02-2005 02:37 AM

we use a gs400 good enough (3ccd) and no HD, as far as i know noone shoots in hd yet...

HDTV Camera

As far as I know there are no HDTV cameras available at the moment... existing prosumer cameras like Canon XL series already capture material at a higher resolution than is transmitted...........
The move to HDTV is likely to be driven by the satillite companies (its rumoured SKY in the UK are going to start broadcasting some test programs) As a starting point suggest u look at post production systems, and see what they're saying about hdtv output.....
btw... we currently post our video material as mpeg2, for quality reasons... has great quality but problems in people downloading it and playing it... any suggestions???

Isn't this HDTV?

Check out the video samples, it's quite nice

That camera is only $3500

bigdog 03-02-2005 03:11 AM

Somtimes better quality is not always the best. I have come across movies where the quality of the work just shows more of the girls imperfections

Praguer 03-02-2005 04:37 AM

Be careful when shooting with HiDefinition video or photo cameras. R

Real amateur fans will spot your content as fake amateur right away. I know the niche, so I know what I'm telling you.

EROTEEK 03-02-2005 04:48 AM

...there are quite a few HD cameras out there, ranging from 720p to 1080i, i mean consumer or maybe PROsumer grades, not very sure u could use them for pics... the bigger rez ones are interlaced, and the progresive ones are only 720 pixels wide...

all i can say is do yoru homework. jvc and sony have a prosumer model out now. they run around 2500. other then that you are most likely going to find the panasonic hd varicam however this is big bucks. some of the bigboys shoot on this camera.

you have to think about editing the footage. once you have a hd camera you have to have a tape deck unless you plan on burning out your camera on playback to get it into the editor. also the final product...is it for broadcast?
if so it has to meet broadcast standards. if you plan on using it for internet only then file size will be be a concern.

Wait on HDV only the first Gen are coming out ,wait there is no rush especially for porn. My firend shoots for Main stream TV and he is still shoots everything with a beta cam . When he did the Hooters pay per view Bikini contest, they wanted him to use a dvx100a

That's not necessarilly a good plan. You want good stills, take them with a digital still camera. After all, most of the frames will not make great stills anyway because of the motion. If you want to spcifically shoot Hi-def in HDV format with a camera like a Sony FX-1 and edit the footage in hi-def and then use the footage to make huge hi-def WMV fies to d/l, or for hi-def tv broadcast or eventual hi def DVD format then go ahead.

Amusing.

Expo_Vids 07-31-2005 02:34 AM

I use all those HDV cams for jobs but I still think that the DVX kicks ass in image quality. If you are shooting for the web then you are just gonna downconvert to DV anyway and it does not look as good as progressive DVX footage.

Plus widescreen is a lousy aspect ratio for gonzo and reality porn.

SGS 07-31-2005 02:57 AM

Been using Sony HVR-Z1E Professional HDV camera for weeks and really pleased with it.
