stileproject.com has good targeted traffic, worldsex is good on price for a rotation of your banner for a month. either that or talk to one of the freehost owners to get some 404 traffic, it's not the best but most freehost sell it pretty cheap.

there really are a million factors. absolute traffic, qualified traffic, your site, who you are looking to sell to, etc. to name a very few. How well do you retain the members you already have? If the answer is really well, I'll give you a suggestion:

make your front end truly representative of your members area (imo very few pay sites do this).

but if you don't retain members in the 1st place, good luck. and yes, that pop up is extremely annoying.

The members that join usually stay for a while. I think my site is a good representation of the members area.
