Sponsors with POTDs: Suggestion

The main reason many dont use POTDs is because it slows down their website load and many times one or more servers are down. That does not look good.

So why not offering a monthly (or longer period) zips with pics (and source codes) for people who wants to host it themself. And scripts for those who are not into it yet.

It would be a great alternative to hosted POTDs :thumbsup

Code:

<html>
<head><title>free picture of the day</title>
</head>
<body>
<center>
<br>
<!--#set var="pref" value="general" -->
<!--#config timefmt="$pref%d.jpg" -->
<IMG SRC="<!--#echo var="DATE_LOCAL"-->">
</center>
</body>
</html>

Pick some pictures for a niche from the PimpRoll free content area, add some hyperlinks to a matching PimpRoll paysite.
(content can only be used to promote our sites, just stay compliant)

Name the pics "general01.jpg" thru "general31.jpg" in this example. (to make niche specific, replace "general" with "amateur" etc.. Replace it in the html as well so it pulls the correct niche pics)

Place this html in the folder with the pics.

Uses SSI to pull the day of the month, and load up the matching pic.

Hope it helps. :thumbsup

Programs offering free content for galleries, must allow it for POTD too I guess :)

If you're promoting the program with the content is the primary thing.

If you have doubts if the program allows it, by all means contact them. But I'm quite sure that so long as you are putting links to their paysites, it will be approved easily.

That depends on the license to the content. If the content is exclusive, there shouldn't be a problem. If the content is non-exclusive, there might be limitations to how the content can be used.
